Earlier this year, Disney announced that the company would undergo a mass restructuring, part of which included mass layoffs — around 7,000 of them. Disney has faced some executive turmoil over the past few years. However, more changes could be coming.

The Walt Disney Company is reportedly talking with a few different partners about selling its streaming and television businesses in India according to Bloomberg. Disney has spoken to Indian billionaires Gautam Adani and Kalanithi Maran, who owns Sun TV Network. This could mean a few different outcomes, including selling some of the assets, an outright sale, a joint venture or other options says Bloomberg.

Disney’s Indian operations have suffered significant losses over the past year due to the loss of streaming rights to air cricket, a popular sport in India. In the most recent quarter, Disney+ subscribers fell again, for the third straight time, due in large part to a 24% decline in Disney+.

This is also following the news of Disney stock falling to the lowest it’s been in 9 years. As of October 4th, 2023, Disney stocks have dropped to the lowest price since 2014. Around 2:30 PM EST, the company’s stocks hit $78.76. Throughout the day, the price rose slightly to $79.42.
