We hope you’ve got your favorite movie buddy on speed dial because we just found the STEAL you’ve been searching for!

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to see one of the recently released movies in theaters like Barbie or Haunted Mansion, there’s no better time than this weekend. Why? Well, several theaters across the nation have banded together to offer an unbeatable price to see your flick of choice!
According to Fandango, movie tickets across the nation are set to be heavily discounted on August 27th, 2023 in honor of National Cinema Day!

On the 27th, all movies in all formats, all showtimes, and all day long will cost around $4 at participating theaters.

It’s estimated that over 3,000 locations nationwide will take part in the one-day event. So if Oppenheimer in IMAX isn’t sold out yet for your preferred participating theater, we suggest you get to ordering those tickets ASAP!

According to Variety, National Cinema Day is hosted by the Cinema Foundation and is designed to “celebrate the power of movies to bring us all together.” It also helps to bring folks to the movies during the sun-shining days of summer.
Summer box office numbers are reported to be up around 16% over 2022, but around 5.4% BELOW 2019 numbers. Last year, National Cinema Day resulted in the highest-attended day in theaters of 2022, according to the National Association of Theater Owners. That can help with popcorn and concession sales, bringing in more money for the theaters as a whole.

Dozens of movies, including new releases like “Gran Turismo,” and “Haunted Mansion”, along with current box office hits such as “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” will be rejoined by box-office favorites including “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” sing-along version.

Some classics like “Jurassic Park” are also slated to be re-released across the big screens for this event.
