From small changes to major updates, Disney World is constantly changing.

We usually keep you updated on the big changes with construction roundups and important dates you might need to know about. But, sometimes the details can be hard to find. More changes are on the way at Disney World, and we’re taking a look at what’s recently popped up!
We searched through recent patents filed by Disney to get an idea of some projects that might be in the works in the parks and resorts, and we did find something we thought was pretty interesting — a patent for “Relative Surface Travelling Map Projection Process.”

Don’t worry, we don’t know what it means either. But, according to the filing, the system “may be used to project content that may supplement real-world or live-action entertainment, such as projecting content that enhances motion within a theme park.”
The description goes on to say, “Conventional projection systems are configured to project on a predetermined projection surface or location,” so it sounds like this “projection location” in the patent could move and change depending on the need.

According to the patent, “there is a need for a mobile projection system that can accommodate and correct for varying movement of the projector.” Of course, Disney hasn’t confirmed what this might be used for or when it may be implemented in the parks, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates.

We also took a look at recent construction permits Disney filed, and it looks like a “general construction” permit was issued for 1400 Magic Kingdom Drive, Bay Lake, Florida — which just so happens to be the location of Cinderella Castle. But, we can’t get ahead of ourselves just yet.

General construction could really just be anything — but we do know that Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is coming to an end on March 31st, and we’ve been wondering what exactly was going to happen with the decorations Disney added to the castle.

It’s possible that this permit could be for something simple, but it would make sense for the decor to be removed once the celebrations are finally over. Keep in mind, though, we don’t know anything for sure just yet!

If we learn any more details about these projects, we’ll let you know! We’ll be on the hunt for more Disney World permits and patents that could indicate news of what’s to come, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest.
