EVERYTHING We Know About Disney’s ‘Frozen 3’

If you’ve heard a resounding roar in the distance from anywhere across the globe, it was probably due to the latest Frozen news!

Elsa

Yesterday, Disney announced plans for the next installment of the Frozen franchise, Frozen 3. So what do we know so far about this film?

It’s no secret that Frozen has become a huge success for Disney since its first movie hit the box office in 2013. Since then, Frozen fever has taken over much of the Disney parks, including new lands, attractions, meet and greets, sing-alongs, Disney+ spin-offs and shorts, and even parade floats. But other than the initial announcement that a new movie has been green-lit, there’s not much to be known about the 3rd movie just yet.

Anna and Elsa

For now, the only character that we can confirm will be returning is the ever-lovable, warm hug-loving Olaf. Josh Gad who has previously voiced Olaf in every Frozen film and short so far, confirmed on Twitter his excitement to return to the franchise and get started on his character’s storyline for Frozen 3.

Twitter users took to the social media platform to congratulate Josh on his return and echo his excitement for Olaf to join our Frozen sisters, Anna and Elsa, once again.

Although Olaf is the only cast member we can confirm as returning for now, Idina Menzel, who voices Elsa, has previously expressed interest and welcomed the idea of rejoining for more Frozen fun. According to an article by Billboard.com, Kristen Bell who voices Anna also has joked with Idina Menzel about future adventures with the rest of the Frozen cast in upcoming sequels. However, Bell never confirmed her return.

It’s Anna and Elsa!

So much of the rest is left to be unfolded. The previous films have contained similar casts of characters, so we’re hoping for official confirmations soon from Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Jonathan Groff (Kristoff). In addition to the voice cast returning, we hope to see the return of the dynamic duo of Chris Buck (director) and Jennifer Lee (director, writer). The first installments of Frozen and Frozen II have broken box-office records and received prestigious awards, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures in 2020 (Frozen II) and a win for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2014 (Frozen).

For now, what we have to do is watch “the hours tick by” and wait and see what the future holds (“hang in there, Joan”) for these beloved characters. It’s been 4 years since the release of Frozen II and before that, the gap with the original Frozen film was 6 years. Disney hasn’t yet announced when Frozen 3 will debut.

Combined, these movies alone have raked in billions of dollars for the Walt Disney Company — not to mention the merchandise, Disney park expansions, costumes, etc.  As always, stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news!
