Big Restaurant and Attraction Construction Updates From Disney World

It’s a happy merry holly jolly SUPER BUSY season for Disney World!

Christmas in Magic Kingdom

There’s so much going on in the parks with the Festival of the Holidays at EPCOT, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, and the inevitable holiday season crowds. But besides those events, there are some other big updates from Disney World to share — updates on construction projects!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s check out that TRON Coaster progress! This week, more landscaping was completed and more concrete was poured to help complete the pathway. It’s really coming together!

The ride is supposed to open in the spring, so we’ve only got a few months before it needs to be completed. Things are moving along pretty quickly!

EPCOT

We still haven’t seen any major changes in the EPCOT construction zone near Guest Relations. It seems that this project is on a bit of a hold while they work on the bigger projects in the middle of the park. We would love to see this area open again so we could have a shortcut walkway to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

In the middle of the park, we’ve seen some big changes with CommuniCore Hall recently. More pieces were added to the top of the two-story structure. We’re interested to see what the finished product looks like.

At Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana next door, we spotted some new additions to the attraction’s pathway! There’s now a clear concrete walkway through the rocks with a little curb on the edges of the dirt beds.

On the rock structure with the Te Fiti symbol, we spotted some new flowers added to the moss and rockwork! The little pink florals make it match the look of the foliage from the movie.

We’ll keep watching to see what’s added in the middle of the park! We’ve got an opening deadline of the end of 2023, so things are likely to move quickly in the next year.

Nothing big has happened over at Roundup Rodeo BBQ this week. We’re still waiting on an opening date for the restaurant, but the exterior is covered in scaffolding and tarps.

There’s also a green construction scrim blocking the entire area. The restaurant is supposed to open before the end of the year — they only have a few weeks!

Disney Resorts

We’ve got a big construction update to share from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! The piles of dirt have been moved around and we’re starting to see different areas sectioned out in the construction zone.

This area is the future home of a new DVC building at the Polynesian.

Disney Springs

We haven’t shared updates from Disney Springs in a while, but there’s a big new addition coming to the West Side. Summer House on the Lake is a new restaurant being constructed across from Salt & Straw and next to Jaleo. It’s set to open in 2023, and there’s a large wall around the construction zone. We’ll be excited to try this new place out!

That’s a wrap on all the construction updates happening in Disney World. We’ll keep an eye out for any big changes and share them as they come. There are a lot of exciting things underway in the parks!
