Things are constantly changing at Disney World!

Especially in the last year, we’ve seen a lot of changes at Disney World, with some things returning to normal, an entirely new line-skipping system, and the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Disney World bringing new nighttime spectaculars to the parks! Another change that is finally here is Disney World’s new MagicBand+, and we’ve got the inside scoop!
As we were making our way around World of Disney this morning we noticed that there were some new Magicbands on display — but not just any Magicbands — they were the NEW MagicBand+!

We knew that they were coming in 2022, but Disney hasn’t announced exactly when and guests were pretty excited to see them out — the racks were CLEARED!

We noticed that Cast Members were actually removing some of the bands from displays and, after some investigating, we learned that they actually weren’t supposed to be released today.
We were still able to pick one up though!

If you’re not familiar, Disney World’s new MagicBand+ will have all of the same features as the current MagicBands, but with more interactive elements.

On top of the normal MagicBand functions (like using it to enter your hotel room, the parks, and your Lightning Lanes), MagicBand+ will let you interact with several elements of the parks, like the Fab 50 Character statues scattered throughout the parks and the fireworks. They also have gesture recognition, and let you play as a Bounty Hunter in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!

Here’s what it looks like!

And, you won’t have to worry about needing to buy a new band in 5+ years after the battery dies like the current ones because the MagicBand+ is rechargeable! The box includes everything you’ll need to charge it up before your park day.

The box also noted that it works with Amazon Alexa devices, so it seems that you might be able to interact with the new “Hey Disney” in a special way once it debuts in the Disney World hotels.

You can get all the details about what this band does by scanning a QR code that is located on the back of the box. However, since the bands weren’t supposed to release today, the site isn’t working just yet.

When it comes to the fit, the band is similar to the current MagicBands in that it has the capability to be 2 sizes and the Mickey icon can be removed to change out the color or stored in a more convenient way.
The biggest difference that we noticed was that it was a bit bulkier on our wrist.

The MagicBand+ cost $29.99.

When we went to activate the band, it was giving us some connection issues. We spoke with Guest Services who shared that the bands weren’t supposed to release until a later date, so we’ll need to wait until then to use any of the functions.

Of course, we’ll be keeping an eye out for when these officially launch in Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
