  1. No. As a pass holder for the last 20 years, ( we go for the Festivals at Epcot they are a favorite), and we live in PA and Canada, the system of fast pass+ was wonderful. Booking ahead of time, extra hours, evenings as well…This Genie + is a nightmare ! Getting up early to try to get 1 ride, being stuck on my phone all day and rushing like a maniac. No thanks.
We will go now for the Festival and activities that we like and enjoy the rest of our time at SeaWorld and Universal!

  2. We were there at March Break. Going back in late August. Will not spend the extra almost $400 for the family. Getting up at 6:30 is a pain to book 1 ride. Piece if advice – Save the money and ride ‘the fancy rides’ at end of the night. A few examples – we entered Rise of the Resistance at 8:55pm (5 minutes before park close), out at 9:40. we entered Remi 10 minutes before park close. Out in 40 minutes.

  3. My biggest issue with Genie+ is the 7AM “morning of” ressie requirement. How many people would plan a Disney trip if you had to wait until 7AM on the “morning of” your trip to see if there were going to be any rooms or dining available? Disney is abusing the customer with this onerous burden, especially considering it is AFTER you have already paid for rooms, tickets, & transportation, just to possibly find out you still didn’t get a ressie for a ride. Disney might do well to read the story about the Golden Goose, because IMHO, that’s where they are headed

  4. The AllEars team has made really good points about the benefits of using Genie+. However, I still refuse to pay for a ride & unfortunately those that do are only “feeding the beast.” But everyone has to make choices that are best for them and their situation.

  5. Dealing with this every morning and all throughout the day is annoying. Yet if I don’t get Genie + I’m stuck in lengthy lines for my favorite rides. Why is $120 a day ticket not enough for Disney to allow guests ample opportunities to ride what they want? It would help if either park capacity was more limited or if rides weren’t down so much, creating longer lines at other attractions. ( Rise of the Resistance averages 2 hours every day. Remi, Test Trak, and others also have bad records)

  6. We have a trip with three grandkids planned in June postponed due to Covid. I have never dreaded a WDW so much ever in my life due to the stupid Genie+. If it wasn’t for them, I would cancel! My favorite vacation place is now an expensive nightmare.

  7. I used Genie on our trip in Nov 21. I feel it took away from enjoying our park time. We spent more time looking at our phone, stopping to fiddle/faddle and running across the park. The worst part is if you went on a standby line, you waited longer as the lighting lane went by you. I don’t think it’s needed in every park, but MK and Studios it’s a must. Worst part is you have to pay for Genie plus, then get up at 7am pay more money to book fancy rides! We had use fancy ride for Rise, we waited in line at park close 45 minutes only for it to go down with about another 20 minutes ahead of us! Met so many “Non tech” savy people struggling. Over complicates what is supposed to be carefree fun!

  8. I don’t think you’ve changed my mind yet. All of these videos just make it sound worse and worse. Just the fact that you’ve put out so MANY videos trying to explain how to use this thing is giving me anxiety. We don’t even want to have our phones with us in the parks. I’m on vacation and my phone is also my business phone. The last thing I want to do is open my phone to see all of my missed calls and appointment changes that are waiting for me when I get home. It’s a complete downer, and thoughts that I don’t want creeping into my day while I’m at Disney. I’m trying to forget the real world, like Walt intended. It worked so well before any of this, why change what already worked? They say that they changed the original fast pass so that people wouldn’t have to rope drop the parks to grab the passes they want but here we are, having to wake up at 7am, and that’s WORSE! I’ve been going since the 90’s, there have never been longer waits than there are now. If we all just stand in line…the line moves along and we all ride. Just leave well enough alone Disney!

  9. Love Genie+ The cost is minimal for the value of not being in standby. If you cannot afford it then you should stay home and not crowd the parks. Disney should raise the price of Genie+ to make it more exclusive.

    1. I think what most are saying is the problem is t the cost as much as it is being tied to your phone the entire time. They should jus man up and raise their pass prices the 15 or so $$ and institute the “free” fast pass for all.

  10. The whole system [Genie+] really takes away from a relaxed vacation. You’re constantly glued to your phone. Not a good example for our younger kids after we try to limit them to screen time. There’s got to be a better way. I hope Disney is working on alternative systems.

  11. Genie+ is nothing like fast pass with fast pass you could book 3 rides in a park 6 months before your stay. Now its bookable at 7am on the morning of your visit and only one at a time. Genie+ has made visiting Disney an assault course, this is my vacation, It should be relaxing!! the happiest place on earth has been turned into bonus city for good old Bob. Also the park booking system is a joke. Can’t wait until Chapek is sacked

  12. For whatever reason, they took the (mostly) unbroken system of FP+ and tried to fix it. They could have just monetized FP+ with the same rules of booking 30 or 60 days in advance. Having to wake up before 7:00 a.m. during vacation with hopes of getting a reservation only to not get one for your favorite ride is quite a letdown. If this happens 30 to 60 days before your trip, at least you have time to plan something else.
