Disney’s Figment Popcorn Bucket Resale Drama Has Taken a New Turn

Today is the first day of the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, with all sorts of food, entertainment, and art to check out now through February 21st! And it seems that EVERYONE is talking about one purple dragon in particular:

Figment Popcorn Bucket

The Figment Popcorn Bucket generated a lot of buzz online after Disney announced it would be selling at the festival, and fans showed up in droves to get their hands on one! As you might imagine, many of these buckets were immediately listed on eBay, with some of the bids up to hundreds of dollars.

There’s one listing in particular, however, that caught our attention: the Bad Artwork Sketch of 2022 Epcot Festival of the Arts Figment Popcorn Bucket.” When we first spotted the listing, the bidding had gone up to $26.

A few minutes later, it was up to $35! It’s certainly starting to catch a lot of people’s attention on social media, just like the Figment Popcorn Bucket itself!

According to the artist, Julia, who penned this sketch, this is a “Limited edition of ONE — can be signed upon request or you can sign your own name to it — it’s really bad artwork that anyone could have created with 5 minutes, a hotel room pen, and a piece of paper.” For reference, here’s another photo of the popcorn bucket that served as inspiration for the sketch:

Here’s the catch: proceeds from the sale of the “Bad Artwork Sketch” will go to charity! The sketch is listed as an Official eBay for Charity listing, and 90% of the proceeds will be donating through eBay to Habitat for Humanity.

What’s more, the seller will even “include ONE BAG OF MICROWAVE POPCORN, because what is sadder than a popcorn bucket without popcorn?”

Update: The seller gave an update via a Twitter thread. After bidding reached $10,000, the seller closed the auction and sent an invoice to the winner, but learned that the bid had been made by mistake. Instead of relisting the item, 100 copies of the original sketch will be made and sold for $10 each to raise funds for José Andrés’ World Kitchen. Those sketches will go on sale on January 18th at 12 PM EST.
