Yes, There Will Be A Costume Contest at Disney’s 2022 D23 Expo!

In 2020, the bi-annual D23 Expo was canceled due to the global health crisis. At the time, D23 announced that the large Disney fan event was postponed until 2022.

The D23 Expo will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on September 9th through 11th. And today, we learned about what attendees can expect, including a chance to see Walt Disney’s airplane, as well as got details about this year’s costume contest, which will be returning to the event.

The Mousequerade Costume Contest will bring some of the biggest Disney fans and costumers to a stage, where they will be judged on their costumes. This year’s event will even feature new categories, including  “Off the Screen,” “Imagine That!,” “Magical Mashups,” and “Cast of Characters. “There will also be  a fan-favorite award, as well as a “Best in Show” award of $2300.

This year’s judges panel will bring back Ashley Eckstein and Yvette Nicole Brown — this will be their third time as judges. They will be joined by first-time judge Ally Maki. Nina West will be the costume contest’s host.
