The same research firm, Digital TV Research, has shared a new prediction for 2025, and despite a decline in Disney+ subscriber growth, the Disney streaming service may still be crowned the industry leader of subscription video on demand.

In a new report shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+ has been forecasted by Digital TV Research to reach an estimated 284.2 million subscribers in 2026, which is lower than their initial prediction of 294.0 million from earlier this year. In contrast, the digital firm forecasts that Netflix will reach 270.7 subscribers in 2026.

As a result, Disney+ is predicted to add approximately 140 million subscribers by 2026, with about 121 million subscribers (43 percent of the total subscribers) located under the Disney+ Hotstar brand in 13 Asian countries. Netflix is also predicted to see growth by 2026, adding 53 million subscribers by 2026, and Amazon Prime will reach an estimated 243.4 million customers, which means these two platforms in addition to Disney+ will lead over half the world in streaming video on demand subscriptions.
