Sony’s newest sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is KILLING it at the box office, despite Sony’s initial lack of confidence prior to the release.

According to CNN, Venom 2 already made an estimated $90.1 million at the US box office this weekend.

An opening weekend of $90.1 million is being called the highest total pandemic era opening ever. Interestingly, Venom 2 even outperformed the first movie, which made about $80 million during the opening weekend.

Sony decided to release Venom 2 exclusively in theaters, which could help explain the huge success that the movie is having.
