Not long after, Disney confirmed that Scarlett Johansson will still be starring in an upcoming Disney movie.

In a recent statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney Chairman Alan Bergman said “We appreciate [Johansson’s] contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and look forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.” This confirms that Scarlett Johansson will still be starring in the upcoming redux of Disney’s Tower of Terror.

Written by Josh Cooley, who previously directed Toy Story 4 and wrote Inside Out, the new Tower of Terror will transport us to early Hollywood. With a brand new story and cast, this movie looks like it will be quite a bit different than the original 1997 movie.

  1. Not sure if I support making movies based on rides. However I do think it’s ok to do it in reverse and develop a ride based on a movie franchise.
If you make a movie about a ride I feel it describes something that each individual might perceive differently when experiencing that ride.
Jaws , Men in Black , Back to the Future etc were based on a film and worked well. Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean , Jungle Cruise and now Tower of Terror will change our perception of those iconic rides forever. We now see characters from POTC on that particular ride. Maybe we’ll get similar changes on Jungle Cruise and T.O T. too. I hope not because one director’s vision is then forced upon everybody else including the imagineers who had already created something special.

  2. I like Scarlet Johansson but, with her identity as Black Widow, I’m surprised they didn’t choose a different actor for Tower of Terror.
