In case you haven’t noticed, EPCOT is going through a HUGE transformation right now!
The fan-favorite Club Cool is returning this summer, two new attractions are on the way, and a brand new restaurant is opening in October. We’ve also learned that a new shop is taking the place of Mouse Gear in the park, and Disney has just released even more details about it!
Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley shared some concept art and construction photos on Instagram that gives us more insight on the new shop!
In addition to sharing some awesome pictures, he gave more details on the inspiration behind the shop. He said the team wanted to make the design “feel like EPCOT” and fit in with the “EPCOT aesthetic”.
In the concept drawings, you can see that the space is meant “to be open and give flexibility to the program featured inside.” Riddley says that this idea of openness is a major part of the new EPCOT aesthetic!
Riddley was recently at the site for the Creations Shop and shared a photo of the construction progress. Looks like it is coming along nicely!
The team wanted to restore the existing building and use the original geometry to their advantage. He said the team is “streamlining the facade and emphasizing the rhythm of vertical columns or ‘ribs’.”
In a previous post, Riddley mentioned that “our parti is all about the circle — and all our structural elements radiate from a center point at the heart of World Celebration” so a lot of the design in the store features the circular shape.
He also shared more about the iconic light wells that will define the space, giving us a preview of the progress they’ve already made!
The new light fixtures could be found on both of the original CommuniCore structures in the park and Disney is actually restoring these original pieces to be internally lit and provide warm light in the new shop.
The Creations Shop is set to open in summer of 2021, but Disney has not released a specific date yet. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest from the EPCOT transformation, so stay tuned!

The Creations Shop is going to be a great replacement for MouseGear!!!! People might not think so now but I predict that the Creations Shop is going to be more popular than Mouse Gear!!! People might laugh at that statement but I think I will be proven right!!!
I admit it. I don’t like change. I would rather see Disney invest in more attractions and stop trimming away services than giving their shops new facads.
Oh no!!! Those pictures look so bland. I loved Mouse Gear. I hope Disney doesn’t ruin this store like they did World of Disney.

Same here. The old World of Disney was so fun to walk around. Now, the shop looks too mall like.
I think there is a lot of complaining of the new shop from people who are stuck in the past!!! They want to keep the same old status quo!!! Epcot is about moving forward while acknowledging the past but not getting stuck in it!!!!
I disagree Brandon. I think what makes Disney shops better is they’re different than what you might find at home. World of Disney looks like a typical mall store. Before, it was pure Disney. We enjoy walking thru Disney Springs, but we never go to the new area shops. Too mall like.
Looks like another generic retail store. Like what they’ve done to the World of Disney store in Disney Springs. They’ve taken all the charm and whimsy out of it. This new store could exist anywhere. I don’t see anything that says Epcot about it.
This shop is going to be really cool!!!! I will miss Mousegear but I think the Creature Shop is going to be even better!!!!
