Over the years, Disney has turned several of its rides into movies.
Pirates of the Caribbean is perhaps the most well-known, with the ride getting adapted into an incredibly successful movie franchise. We’ve also seen films made from Tower of Terror and Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion film premiered in 2003 to moderate success, but now Disney’s going to try again — and they’ve hired a director to take the lead!
According to Deadline, the new Haunted Mansion movie will be directed by Justin Simien. Simien is the creator behind Sundance hits Dear White People and Bad Hair.Â
Joining Simien in creating the film are producers Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced Dinsey’s live-action Aladdin. Katie Dippold of Parks and Recreation, Ghostbusters, and The Heat is one of the writers.
This film plans to take a different direction than the original live-action adaptation, and we’re excited to learn more about the storyline. The goal is for the movie to be able to stand on its own apart from the hit ride.

Let’s just hope this movie is a lot better than the original movie with Eddie Murphy. That version was awful!!!!
