We’re just a few short days away from the reopening of Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park!

This is the first of the two Disney water parks to reopen following the closure of the parks last year. We’ve been checking out the new safety precautions and updated park information ahead of the official reopening on Sunday, March 7th, but today we got to see it for ourselves! We were invited to a media event to get a better look at changes coming to Blizzard Beach, and we’re giving you the details.
Health and Safety
When we headed into the park, we picked up a park map to see if any information had changed here. The back of the map lists the mask rules and the health and safety guidelines for visiting Blizzard Beach.

The guidelines listed here seem to be more in line with the rest of Walt Disney World’s parks instead of specific to Blizzard Beach. For instance, this map says that guests must wear face coverings at all times, but the water park rules that Disney shared state that masks should be removed when in the water.

Besides the park map, we spotted several signs around the area reminding guests to do their part, giving suggestions on good health practices, and listing the rules of conduct in the park.
Dining
There were several Quick Service spots set up to serve guests, and they seemed to be operating very similarly to the way that restaurants do in the other parks.

Mobile Order is encouraged when possible, and there were ground markers at the various restaurant windows to keep guests distanced.

If a restaurant had a seating area, the tables were spaced out. Those that couldn’t be distanced were marked off, letting guests know not to sit there.

In places where guests might come in contact with Cast Members, there were plexiglass barriers installed. We’ve already seen these procedures in the rest of Walt Disney World, so we expected to notice something similar here.

We’ll make sure to give you all the details on the food and beverage service when the park officially opens!
Merchandise
We stopped by one of the gift shops, Beach Haus, to check out all the merchandise and see if anything caught our eye.

In here, we spotted plenty of Blizzard Beach gear, but there was something else we noticed…

…there were some Typhoon Lagoon items as well!

If you’re looking for pretty much anything water park-related, this shop should definitely be your stop!

We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled to see if we get any reopening-specific products as well.
Other Things You Need to Know
Besides shopping and dining, there are some other things you need to know before visiting. We noticed a few different signs around the park asking guests to NOT move the beach chairs.

The chairs have already been set up to keep parties physically distanced, so Disney asks that they remain where they are currently located.

Also, life jackets are still available…

…as are locker rentals! If you need a place to store your belongings where they’ll be safe and dry, you can still get a locker.

Well, there you have it! That’s a quick recap of our visit to Blizzard Beach today. We’ll be back for the reopening to give you the latest details on all the changes, so stay tuned to AllEars!

Disclosure: We were invited by Walt Disney World to attend a media event for Blizzard Beach’s reopening. This did not affect our reporting of the event — our opinions are our own.
I love Blizzard Beach.
What area mask guidelines for Slides????
I wonder how much longer these precautions will be in place. The chairs looked liked someone moved them already, not in a straight line. Perhaps, Typhoon will remain closed and open when we achieve herd immunity. When we are normal again, I would like to see the hand sanitizers continue at eateries. Its a good idea to have clean hands at meal time all the time.
