Disney's 'Cinderella' Will Get Reimagined in the Upcoming Novel "If the Shoe Fits"

The story of Cinderella has been told so many ways over the years, from the 2015 live-action movie starring Lily James to the rom-com starring Hilary Duff. And now, we’re getting a brand new take on the classic story.

A reimagined version of Cinderella for adults (in book form!) is coming soon, and from what we know so far, it sounds like something Cindy fans are definitely going to want to get their hands on.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the book is called If The Shoe Fits, and it’s written by Julie Murphy, the same author who brought us Dumplin’. It’s described as a rom-com, and it’s all about a woman named Cindy who’s trying to break into the fashion world and ends up working on a reality show with her stepmother (and we’re willing to bet she’s probably evil).

“Turns out being the only plus-size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn’t expect? That she may just find inspiration — and love — in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn’t fit, maybe it’s time to design your own,” says the book’s description.

The book is part of a bigger release for Disney Publishing: a series called Meant to Be that includes modern retellings of classic Disney Princess stories for adult audiences.
