It’s time to run amuck, amuck, amuck and get to celebrating!

That’s because Hocus Pocus is on its way to become the top movie at the box office this weekend nearly 30 years after its original release.

This is the time of year when the movie often sees a resurgence, often in merchandise (including a recent Hocus Pocus Colourpop makeup collection), the food we eat, and the beverages we drink.

But now the Sanderson Sisters have flown back into theaters, and they are putting the world under their spell once again. According to Variety, the 1993 movie collected $650,000 on Friday and is expected to take in $1 million by the end of the weekend. This would make it the top-selling movie of the weekend, nearly three decades after its initial release. Well done, witches!

However, Hocus Pocus does have one competitor that might knock it down a notch: Tenet, which has not yet released its weekend earnings. But even #2 at the box office so long after its original release is quite the accomplishment for the classic Halloween film.

It’s certainly been a strange year for movies, especially with the global health crisis temporarily shutting many theaters down. As a result, many movie releases have been delayed until next year, while others have been released online. For now, though, the Sanderson Sisters reign as the top witches at the box office. Now here’s hoping we really do get a Hocus Pocus sequel!
