NEWS! AMC Pushes Back Opening Date for Their Movie Theaters Again

Movie theaters everywhere have been temporarily closed due to the global crisis and delayed film production. Flims like the highly-anticipated Mulan delayed release dates, while others sent their films to digital streaming services.

AMC Theatres originally planned to reopen most theaters on July 15th. The date was then pushed back to July 30th. Yet another film has delayed their debut, causing AMC to put off reopening even further.

Warner Bros. decided to take the film Tenet off the release calendar. No new date was given, but they anticipate that the movie will debut later this year. According to the Orlando Sentinel, after this decision, AMC announced that they will delay reopening again. AMC now plans to reopen in mid to late August.

While the movie theaters were ready to open, film production was not. AMC made the statement that the “new timing reflects currently expected release dates for much anticipated blockbusters like Warner Bros.’ ‘Tenet’ and Disney’s ‘Mulan,’ as well as release dates for several other new movies.”

AMC will implement new health and safety protocols when the theaters decide to open their doors again. The company discussed limiting capacity to 30%, requiring masks, and seating groups every other row.
