Continued speculation about whether the NBA will wrap up its season at Walt Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports (and take up residence in one or more Walt Disney World Resort hotels) seems to be on the verge of clarification.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the NBA’s season will “[model] a 22-team format” and is proposed to restart on July 31. Wojnarowski cites a source saying “a last possible date for a Finals Game 7 lands on Oct. 12” (ESPN).
The NBA’s Board of Governors is set to hear a proposal from Commissioner Adam Silver at its meeting tomorrow, Thursday, June 4. Wojnarowski adds that there is “room for the league to maneuver on the structure” and that “owners… will [likely] fall into line and overwhelmingly approve the commissioner’s recommendation.”

Disney guests have voiced concerns about the prolonged stay of 330 players (teams can have up to 15 players, with 22 teams proposed to play) and support and coaching staff in Disney’s Resort hotels. We’ll be watching for confirmation and clarification as plans are revealed.

My son and I are set to arrive at WDW on 8/10. We would not be happy if we were bumped from our hotel due to NBA players and or staff. We are scheduled to stay at the Boardwalk.
