Broadway Goes Dark In Response To Coronavirus Outbreak

The novel Coronavirus continues to affect normal life in the United States, as another major institution shuts down in response to the pandemic. Broadway, home of Disney musicals like Frozen, Aladdin, and The Lion King, is going dark.

The Lion King is one of many shows affected by the closure.

According to Playbill, effective March 13th at 5PM EST, all of Broadway will be shut down until April 12th. The move comes in response to a ban against gatherings of 500 or more people in New York City.

If you had tickets to any Broadway show during this time period,  it’s recommended that you contact your point of sale for a refund or to reschedule. There is no word on when theaters will assume operation beyond the scheduled end of the blackout.
