Walt Disney World has confirmed that a cast member at its Pop Century Resort was killed in an accident on Monday morning, July 9.
The man, Juan Alberto Ojeda, 33, was found unconscious by the Reedy Creek Fire Department, which had responded to an emergency call. Ojeda was declared dead at the scene shortly after 9 a.m. No other information was available.
Walt Disney World Resort president George A. Kalogridis released a statement that read, in part: “All of us at Walt Disney World Resort are deeply saddened today by the loss of one of our Cast Members. Our thoughts and concerns are with his family, friends, and fellow co-workers.”
The company will provide resources for people affected by the accident, Kalogridis noted, adding that Disney is working with authorities to determine the circumstances of the Ojeda’s death.
