The Return of Mr. Lincoln and ‘World of Color’ Coming Soon!
ANAHEIM, Calif. (December 4, 2009) – As the Holidays take center stage at Disneyland Resort through Jan. 3, 2010, guests will celebrate the season along with the return of some favorite attractions. Still to come are the return of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in December, and a milestone in the ongoing expansion of Disney’s California Adventure park – the spring debut of “World of Color.”
HOLIDAY FAVORITES: Disneyland Resort is the ideal place to celebrate the magic of the holidays with friends and loved ones. Holidays at Disneyland Resort features “A Christmas Fantasy” parade, “it’s a small world” holiday, Haunted Mansion Holiday and all the special décor – including the 60-foot Christmas tree on Main Street, U.S.A. – that transforms Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks into a holiday wonderland. Santa Claus greets young and old alike at Santa’s Reindeer Ranch in Frontierland, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle once again sparkles with the shimmering magic of winter, and “Believe” In Holiday Magic” fireworks light up the night, concluding with a snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A., in front of “it’s a small world” and along the riverfront in New Orleans Square. At Disney’s California Adventure, guests can enjoy a bug’s-eye view of the holidays by visiting Flik’s Fun Fair, with its oversized holiday decorations. They can also visit Santa Claus in “Santa’s Seaside Pavilion,” a quaint Victorian gazebo next to the Christmas Tree along the Paradise Bay boardwalk.
TIANA’S SHOWBOAT JUBILEE!: An additional holiday highlight this year is “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!” performed four times a day through Jan. 3, 2010, in New Orleans Square. Inspired by the new Disney animated feature “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!” invites guests to enjoy a rousing Mardi Gras-style cavalcade through to the Frontierland waterfront, where Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and other “Princess and the Frog” characters board the Mark Twain Riverboat. The boat then takes to the river where Tiana and company entertain guests on shore in New Orleans Square with a show that includes dancing and songs from the animated motion picture.
THE RETURN OF THE DISNEY GALLERY: Long a favorite of Disney fans and collectors of Disney art, The Disney Gallery has reopened in its new home – next to the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland in the space originally occupied by the Bank of Main Street. (Don’t miss the special pieces on display inside the old bank vault!) The Gallery’s inaugural show, “Enchanting the Classics,” focuses on how the artists at Walt Disney Imagineering have kept beloved Disneyland attractions, such as Jungle Cruise, Submarine Voyage and Pirates of the Caribbean, fresh and exciting over the years with enhancements and surprises.
CELEBRATING THE MAGICAL HISTORY OF DISNEYLAND: Next door to The Disney Gallery, in the Lobby of the Main Street Opera House, is The Disneyland Story, an immersive display that takes guests behind the scenes in the 54-year history and development of Walt Disney’s original theme park. A highlight is the continuous screening of “Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years,” co-hosted by Steve Martin and Donald Duck.
MR. LINCOLN RETURNS TO HIS MAIN STREET ADDRESS: In December, the beloved Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln will return to the auditorium of the Main Street Opera House. Walt Disney Imagineering has enriched this classic inspirational presentation, augmenting fondly remembered show elements with the most advance Audio-Animatronics technology, artwork and other enhancements.
A PREVIEW OF EXPANSION AT DISNEY’S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE: In Blue Sky Cellar at Golden Vine Winery, the Imagineers’ workshop offers guests a wide-ranging preview – featuring models, concept art and film – of what’s coming to Disney’s California Adventure, including “World of Color” in 2010; a new ride in 2011 that takes guests into the undersea world of “The Little Mermaid,” and the new, 12-acre Cars Land in 2012.
COMING IN 2010 – ‘WORLD OF COLOR’: The next big development in the expansion of Disney’s California Adventure will be unveiled in spring 2010. “World of Color,” a spectacular nighttime water show presented in Paradise Bay, will astound guests with its magnitude and creativity, bringing classic Disney and Pixar animation to life with hundreds of powerful fountains, larger-than-life projections, lasers, fire, surround-sound music and jaw-dropping effects. The show will employ stunning technical wizardry to create a breathtaking emotional experience, presenting beloved characters as you’ve never seen them before.
