We stayed at AoA in the Little Mermaid Section. We were in Building 7 (Ursala) on the second floor. The LM had its own pool. The view of the lake every day was wonderful. The walk to the food court and the buses is only 5 minutes. The CMs were so helpful and nice! We loved the healthy options at the food court as well. The rooms were decorated in such a fun style! It was a mother and daughter get away. We picked the right hotel for our trip. We have decided that this is our favorite value hotel!

Pros:

Food Court, Bus transportation, CM, Views

We went here for a burger and totally forgot they changed the menu. We decided to eat here anyway and were very disappointed. My son had quesadillas and he said they were the worst he has ever had...almost no cheese inside. A quesadilla has to be the easiest thing in the world to prepare, right? My meal was pretty bland as well. We won't be returning.

Review of Disney Dining Plan

Reviewed by MWS Review Date: 11/18/2015

The dining plan can be great and not great at the same time. It requires preplanning to ensure you get the most out of the table service credits and your money’s worth since the dining plan isn’t cheap. We also spent a great deal of time during our trip checking how many snack credits and quick service credits we had and if we would use them all by the end of the trip. Since we didn’t spend much time at our resort, we only used our refillable mugs a couple of times. It’s nice not having to worry about how much money you’re going to spend on a meal and we tried several places we wouldn’t normally try, which is a huge plus. There were a few times we ordered items not because we wanted to, but to make certain we used all our credits. We used most of our snack credits on items at the F&W which made it nice to try different offerings, but dessert with every meal can be a challenge, even when you’re on vacation. With a little planning, okay a lot of planning, you can make this work but you can also eat for less with a little planning. The dining plan isn’t for everyone, but as with the rest of your vacation a little planning can go a long way.

Pros:

Plenty of food

Review of MagicBand

The bands are great, they are easy to use and you don’t have to worry about digging them out of a bag like you would the cards. I saw several bands that individuals had decorated themselves, which is a great idea over spending money on one of the specialized bands. They can get a little sweaty on hot days. We wanted to use the same bands from a previous trip, but the My Disney Experience app would not allow us to link them, I called and she said to just bring the bands with us, but Disney sent us new bands anyway. Disney needs to work out a way to reuse bands without wasting time and resources sending out new ones.

Pros:

Easy to use

Cons:

Unable to reuse the bands

Review of Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise

When I first heard about the fireworks cruise it sounded like so much fun but I was hesitant to book because of the cost, after much discussion we decided to go for it and book the cruise and I’m so glad we did! From the moment you arrive at the dock the cast members are there to greet you and explain the trip and menu to you. You are given a few souvenirs for the evening, including a pin, light up champagne glass and a plate. There is a cool game you can play if you want, it’s for all ages but it seemed to keep the kids busy on the cruise before the fireworks started. There were drinks are desserts on the first level and desserts only on the second level. There were a number of dessert stations so the lines were never long. There were several types of cheeses and desserts, also at the beginning of the cruise there were meats on the trays but the meats went quickly and were never replaced, the rest of the food was replenished throughout the event. The cupcakes and mango panna cotta were good; the spiced flourless chocolate lacked spiced and seemed way undercooked (it may have been the chocolate cake didn’t hold up well in the heat). Parents beware – the pineapple upside down cake comes with a tiny shooter of alcohol. The specialty alcoholic drink tasted watered down but it was a warm night, beer and wine and soda were also available. The view of the fireworks is great and even though the evening was sold out, the boat did not feel crowded. This almost made the cruise worth the price alone after dealing with the crowds while watching the fireworks in the parks. There is limited seating on the boat and if you’re on the second level, you must walk up and down the stairs for drinks. Once back on land, there are buses to take you to your resort. We had a very enjoyable evening even if the desserts are just okay, but it’s a nice break from being part of the zombie herd shuffling around the parks all day.

Pros:

Great party, cast members

Cons:

Cost, seating

Review of Trader Sam's Grog Grotto

We arrived to get a pager and told there was a 45 minute wait. We promptly went out to the patio and ordered drinks and appetizers. Hated having no prices on the menu for the drinks but knew enough to steer away from anything with a "souvenir cup," because that is always $10 or more added on. Ordered portuguese sausages and asian dumplings. There is very little description on the menu of these items and luckily my husband tasted a dumpling seconds before I took a big bite. They contained not only pork but shrimp too. Being allergic to shellfish, it was a close call. There was no mention on the menu of what was in the dumpling. My fault for not asking but I assumed they were pork. There really shouldn't have been some indication of what it was stuffed with.

Anyway, by the time the pager went off, we had each had two drinks (very good, btw), and decided to skip Trader Sam's. Maybe next time.

Pros:

Decent drinks and food

Cons:

Menu much too vague

Review of Wilderness Lodge (Deluxe Resort)

My fifth visit and first time at a deluxe hotel - very disappointed. bus transportation was terrible - boat transportation was great but it only goes to magic kingdom. housekeeping was awful. my sister had a woods view - housekeeping left her patio door open and when we got home later that night her room was filled with bugs and mosquitoes. quick service restaurant did not ofer many options and they were the same all week. It's an okay place if you are planning a short trip only to magic kingdom and epcot. I was excited to stay there but if given the choice between Wilderness and a moderate, I will take the moderate.

Pros:

close to magic kingdom

Cons:

bus transportation terrible

My husband and I have attended Food and Wine every year for at least ten years. I would say over the last few, the unruliness of some guests and the general over indulging of the crowd have made it less and less enjoyable. I think we're actually going to skip next year. It is definitely not a place to bring children of any kind (not that we would).

We were there several different nights, but Friday and Saturday were just totally out of control, a bunch of 18 to 25 years olds getting drunk and falling all over the place. I didn't see one person being carded when I was getting food, and they definitely should have been. I'll give it a year's rest and see if it improves.

Pros:

Food and wine (obviously)

Cons:

Drunks, drunks and more drunks

Review of Ft. Wilderness Cabins (Moderate Resort)

This resort is beautiful but very large! We did not rent golf cart because it was a whooping $70 a day. We finally figured out bus system and that was easy to use. Loved being able to ride boat to Magic Kingdom. I was disappointed in lack of food choices at dining area. The sit down resturant is really your only choice if you don't bring your own food. They do have a order form to order groceries and the price was very reasonable. I recommend this for parties of 6. We stayed comfortably in cabin. Pools and laundry are quite spread out too.

Pros:

Lots of room

Cons:

Resort spread out

The food was not very good here. I got steak and it was not the best. The guacamole was probably the best thing here. Chips and salsa was ok but lacked in flavor. Service lacked the Disney magic too. Waiter wasn't friendly.

Pros:

view
