Review of Be Our Guest -Counter Service Lunch

This was our third time eating lunch here and we really love it. I pre-ordered this time and that really made the process easy. We checked in at the ADR hut outside, then went right to the cash register to pay for the food and were seated within about 5 minutes.
We ate in the music box room. The restaurant was very busy, but it wasn't overwhelming. My husband and I both had the roast beef sandwich and they were so good. The only thing is that I ordered them without the lettuce/tomato/onion garnish and they came out with it anyway. No big deal though to just take it off. Our cupcakes for desert were fantastic.
We will continue to have lunch here during our visits.

After attending a couple of the MVMCP, I was very excited to attend the MNSSHP and score a poison apple mug. I know Disney can’t control the weather, but it rained all night and it definitely put a damper on the evening. Because of the rain there was no Headless Horseman, no Carlotta at the Haunted Mansion, no Hocus Pocus Villain show (after waiting 20 minutes for it to start) and no getting in line to see characters. According to a very nice cast member, the poison apple mugs were sold out weeks ago, so no mug either. However there were tons of people and large crowds in the stores and for both parades and the fireworks making it difficult to get around and see the parade. The candy lines were long, but moved quickly and most of the rides had short wait times. Next time I’ll skip the party and instead use the ticket money to buy the poison apple mug on eBay.
Pros:
Candy, short wait time for ridesCons:

We had dinner here one night during our recent visit. It was very good. I had the seafood mac and cheese and my husband had the salmon dinner. We were both super pleased with our dinners. The main thing I dislike about eating here on the dining plan are the desert choices. We got the chocolate cakes, but just picked at them. We sat upstairs, and although it was very busy, it wasn't noisy up there. I highly recommend this place if you need a quick meal in Magic Kingdom.

I like to always do a character breakfast during our trips and we had never done 1900 Park Fare, so we decided to give it a try. I think in the future we will stick to Chef Mickey's. The food was very good, but the characters were pretty lackluster. The Mad Hatter was funny, but the other 4 barely interacted beyond posing for a quick picture.
My husband really enjoyed the corned beef hash on the breakfast buffet. My favorite were the Mickey Waffles. If I were only rating this meal on the food, it would be a 9 or 10, but since the characters weren't great, that is why I scored it lower.

This is always our favorite meal during our trips. This year was no exception. We checked in early for our ADR and went to the bar. We were seated exactly at our ADR time. Wishes was starting just as we were sitting and it was neat to see the fireworks out the back windows. Our server was super friendly and efficient.
All the food was great. We loved every part of it from the salad to the desert. The steak was by far my favorite of the meats. The bread pudding is just to die for.
A great meal from beginning to end.

We stayed at the Polynesian, so we ate breakfast at Captain Cooks everyday. The food was always very good. We waited quite a while for our breakfast a couple mornings and I couldn't really figure out why because it wasn't very busy. We came later (about 8 AM) one morning and it was packed in there - I highly recommend going about 7 if you want to beat the crowds.
There are two soda machines and one of them was broken the entire week and there wasn't a sign on it or anything, so there was a constant stream of people trying to use it and then not being able to get anything to come out. They really should have just put up a little "out of order" sign.
My husband got a burger/fries one night and brought it back to the room to eat for a late night snack and he was pleased with it.

We were able to get right in one evening without a wait. The décor is neat and the servers have lots of personality. That being said, the drinks were nothing to write home about and they were expensive. We had 2 beers and one "specialty" drink and it was about $35. It was neat to get to keep the Tiki cup that the specialty drink came in. We did not try any of the food offerings, just drinks.

I stayed at CBR for two weeks in September. We had a room in Trinidad North, preferred with a water view. The room was beautiful, but I was a bit disappointed with the generic feel of the room. There was nothing to make it feel like Disney, unless you let down the murphy bed. The food court is woefully inadequate for the amount of folks they are looking to feed. One drink station. One. There was ALWAYS a line. One afternoon I tried to get into my room only to find that the battery in the RFID lock had died. I went to concierge who promised to send someone up immediately. Three trips back to concierge, and three and one half hours later, maintenance came up and changed the battery in 30 seconds. We were given two fast passes for our inconvenience. Meanwhile, we were hot, tired, and stuck in our bathing suits for three and a half hours. The evening before our departure, I called to set up our pick-up time and was told 8:30AM. At 8:50AM, I called again, asking if we'd missed the bus (we had been outside waiting, so I knew we hadn't) and I was told that the pick up order hadn't been written down. We were late for our ME. The food court has only a few stations open in the morning- far too few to service the hungry folks looking for a meal. Though the recent update was lovely, they really should think of updating and expanding their food and drink offerings at Port Orleans. Not a terribly good experience and one I won't be repeating. However, the Banana Cabana and Shutters were outstanding- service and product wise.

Like many folks here, I too was hesitant to visit Shutters. But after a storm front canceled our plans to go to the Boardwalk, we ended up at Shutters. And I'm glad we did! Our server that evening was Donna, who upon seeing our "Happy Birthday" pins, brought out two glasses of champagne as she took our order. She was quick and friendly, chatty and knowledgeable; a real joy to visit with. We had the crab cake appetizer and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Donna had suggested the New York Strip, so we couldn't resist. It too was perfectly seasoned. The asparagus spears that were served alongside were wonderfully tender/crisp. The herb dressing served with the steak was the perfect blend- and the steak? Best I've ever had- so flavorful and tender. My friend and I raved to Donna, who then told the kitchen crew. The chef came out to speak with us and we told him that he'd done a great job. On our way out, we stopped by the kitchen to offer our compliments, only to have the entire crew come out to say hello and wish us happy birthdays. It was a perfect evening- so perfect that we repeated it on our last evening at WDW. And it was just as fantastic. Don't be shy about going to Shutters- I will certainly be making a special trip to have dinner here on our next Disney trip.

We took the time to take a horse drawn carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside but we had some issues. There were two carriages going at a time and we just got in the one closest to us. The route ours took went across Ol’ Man Island, down the main walking path for Magnolia Bend near the river, around the end of Building 95, then turned around and came back. We were disappointed because we had been staying in Magnolia Bend for the length of our stay and this route was nothing special to us because we were walking it daily. The other carriage, we came to find out later, went down to French Quarter which we would have enjoyed quite a bit more. Just bad luck on that one but you may wish to ask the driver which route you are going on if you have a preference.
However, on our return to the main building a service vehicle began following our carriage pretty closely which totally spoiled our mood with the bright headlights and noisy engine. We were followed until we crossed the bridge to Ol’ Man Island and then took the opposite fork in the road. It was very annoying and I finally spoke to a manager as we checked out and she refunded half of the price of our ride.
I would not totally discourage you from attempting a horse drawn carriage ride, just be cautious since there is an additional cost for a ride that was just over 20 minutes.
