We stayed here for one night on 06/28. We stayed in the cars suite. The room was very nice. Carpet was still wet from being cleaned. Check in took awhile. The pool and theming was great. It was our check out day and the resort did not send us our magical express vouchers or pick up time which took a lot of work to straighten out.

Pros:

Great Theming, good food court, pool

Cons:

Check in service, front desk

We stayed here from 06/16-06/24. We stayed in a value studio. We requested one of the savannah ones, but ended up with a pool view. There was a beautiful tree by our window, but it was loaded with bees. Our checkin was quick and smooth, probably the best we have ever had. Our room was ready at noon. The service was very good.

Pros:

Beautiful, different, Pricing on points

Cons:

Can be a long walk, bus

Review of Monsieur Paul France - Dinner

We ate here twice in June 2013, it was that good!

The meal started with a small treat from the chef, a cheese puff that was delicious. I had hot decaf tea with my meal and we had the bottled Evian water - both top shelf. Once we ordered, the waiter called over the bread service waitress. There were several breads we could try - a baguette, a multigrain roll, mushroom rolls, and many other selections. Every one we tried was delicious. I ordered the salad with pears and pecans that was absolutely phenomenal. I had asked for it without cheese and the French mustard dressing was soooooooo good. The pears were crisp and sweet - very much like a dessert. For entree, I had the tenderloin with mushroom top - it is so hard to get a great well done steak, but this was perfect! The entree came with a cappuccino mashed potatoes - which was a layer of mashed potatoes, topped with a truffle foam - um! yum! For dessert, I had to have the meringue with various creams and raspberry sorbet - OMG - so good! Arguably, the BEST dessert on WDW property. My son had the kids sirloin and fries. I can't even remember what my husband had, but I know he thought it was delicious and spot-on-French, having lived in France for a few years. He also thought the wine pairing was phenomenal! Thank God for Tables In Wonderland taking 20% off this meal! In response to prior posts, this restaurant was completely quiet, all guests talking in table whispers - even though there were several young kids - impeccably behaved.

Pros:

Everything

Cons:

We attended the Independence week fireworks show on Monday night. It was AMAZING! Disney's "Concert in the Sky" featured numerous patriotic songs with perfectly timed fireworks and ended in classic Disney style with a stunning display of red, white and blue filling the sky.

Pros:

AMAZING!

Review of Ft. Wilderness Cabins (Moderate Resort)

Three adults and two children had plenty of room for sleeping, eating, and just relaxing. Cooking was important and kitchen was well equipped. We had a few housekeeping problems, but all it took was a call to the front desk and the magic quickly returned.
This was the second visit to cabins and we do enjoy this resort. It was necessary for us to have a golf cart and we enjoyed it, would not stay without one. We stayed in a handicap cabin with a roll in shower. The cabin bed was lower and easier to enter. There was enough room to move about in the cabin and access was easy. Family teenager kept the free wi-fi plugged in at all times. Family four year old had room to run and plenty of lizards to chase. Saw deer, opossum, rabbits, and many lizards.
Bus and boat service to parks was quick and pleasant. Did not ride internal bus system, we prefered a golf cart. Yes, they can be costly, but they make life so much easier, and isn't that what we all want at DISNEY?
We enjoyed swimming in pool close to cabin, and kids liked the outside movie. There is a great variety of activities to enjoy, and they make for a pleasant respite from crowds in the parks.
We all enjoyed the quiet, and the beauty of the resort. We plan to stay again and again.

Pros:

Privacy, full kitchen, roomy, golf cart

Cons:

housekeeping

Review of Port Orleans French Quarter (Moderate Resort)

Stayed June 19-23, 2013. My wife and I stayed in room 4101. Buidling 4, ground level, corner room with a king sized bed.

this was our first time at a moderate level resort -- we will not stay at a value again, after enjoying this stay. I picked this resort over riverside because i love new orleans. and the theme to this resort did not disappoint. after we checked in, we walked to our room - and instantly i feel in love with the zydeco music that played lightly around the resort.

the moment we got to the room, i was very happy to see it was a corner room - two sets of windows! having just a king bed, the room was extremely spacious. the bed was not very comfortable and the springs were very loud. i think it's time to be replaced.

we only ate at the quick service location once. i didnt feel the staff was very friendly, nor did they care to assit. most of the windows had an 'order here" sign. the section serving the food i wanted did not, so i stood by one that did. only to be told i was waiting in the wrong place. i ordered a chicken sandwich. it was not very good, and it took about 20 minutes to cook.

bus service was ok. however, it was raining most afternoons during our stay. after a morning at the parks, and an afternoon at the pool - around 4pm we thought we'd head downtown for some dinner. Seemingly, so didnt everyone else. we were all crammed in the bus stop, while it poured cats and dogs around us. we waited roughly 40 minutes before a bus pulled in. and of course it filled up just as quickly as it arrived. we were fortunate enough to get on that trip, i'd hate to guess how long it took for a 2nd bus to show.

there were a few times we stopped over at the depots around the port orleans riverside. adding roughly another 10 minutes to our destination.

the hot tub is nice, and its a short distance from the pool for some nice privacy. the pool was very lively in the afternoon, with daily events going from nearly 10am straight til 5 or 6pm. it is not quiet. they play some radio friendly hits while conducting the events with a microphone. if you're looking for a quiet pool - you will not find it here. you can always walk to riverside's quiet pools if you wanted, as well - we didnt.

aside from what i've stated - this is a great resort. i will never stay at a value again, and i'd love to stay at POFQ when possible. Now i see why so many people love it!

Pros:

small/cozy feel, authentic french quarter feel, rooms

Cons:

downtown disney bus service

Review of Contemporary Resort (Deluxe Resort)

My family and I stayed at Contemporary in October. We were going to be attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and booked Contemporary because of its location. We loved being able to walk to Magic Kingdom. We had a theme park view and it was great to sit out on the balcony in the morning and watch the boats, buses, and monorail go by. We also really enjoyed watching Wishes and Electrical Water Pageant from our balcony. The staff at the resort was very friendly and helpful like we have come to expect from Disney.

The only negatives were the elevators and the theme. As far as Disney resorts go, the theme is is definitely lacking. It felt like a regular hotel, and a nice one at that, but it's nice to stay at a fully themed resort such as Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, or Animal Kingdom Lodge. To be fair, we did know what the theme was going to be like when we booked the hotel. The other problem was the elevators. We stayed on the seventh floor and in the mornings, the down elevators would be so full that we would end up having to get on an elevator that was going up, ride it up, and then stay on it on the way down. Other people complained of having to do this, as well. The stairs are clearly marked that there is no exit until the first floor, but the shops, restaurants, and monorail are not located on the first floor. So, if you were hoping to take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom in the morning, you would leave your room and either take an elevator up to the top and then ride it to the correct level, or you would take the stairs to the first level and then take an escalator up to the proper level.

We would still recommend this hotel to others, but they do need to be aware that the elevators situation is less than stellar.

Pros:

View, ease of getting to parks

Cons:

elevators, theme

Review of Boardwalk Villas (Disney Vacation Club)

My family of three stayed at the Boardwalk Villas at for four nights at the end of June, 2013. We have never stayed at the Epcot ring of resorts before, opting for the Polynesian when we can, but we were all pleasantly surprised by this place. The atmosphere is unlike any other resort on Disney property with the boardwalk always having something going on. We loved the Coney Island-style decor, and the rooms were bigger than expected.

The best part of this resort is the boardwalk, which stays busy through the night. You have a large selection of restaurants to choose from, and even their quick service at Boardwalk Bakery was better than many other resorts. You have great views across the lagoon to the Beach and Yacht Club resorts, and a quick ten minute walk gets you into Epcot.

We loved this spot, and will absolutely stay here again. Some of the best photos we've ever taken at Disney are from the boardwalk at night, which is lit up perfectly for great shots.

Some complain that the noise is a problem here, but we did not experience this. That may be because we are odd, though, because we love hearing the Disney sounds during our trip. Either way, the sound did not keep us up. We took naps in the afternoon so that we could stay out late on the boardwalk before calling it a day. I'm ready to go back!

Pros:

Location, Decor, Beautiful Boardwalk

Cons:

Uh, only that we can't move in!
