Review of Walt Disney World's Magical Express

Mears does this service right. I was off my plane and on a bus very quickly. They are well organized and they got their system perfected to get you on a bus and to your resort in a timely manner. For those who are traveling with children the Magical Express will save you much time and will eliminate many headaches. This, along with the airport check-in available at the hotel makes the return trip much easier and faster.

Save the money you would have spent on a rental car or a taxi and take the Magical Express.

Pros:

quick & easy

Review of Chefs de France - Lunch/Dinner

I love Les Chefs de France. It's ambiance really does make you feel like you're in a busy restaurant in Paris. Request to sit by the windows and you just might catch an artist performing outside.

We dined here in late August 2013 for dinner. We were not on the dining plan. We both had the Prix Fixe - French onion soup and lobster bisque (which is almost to die for), salmon and half chicken for the main courses, and the strawberry creme cake with a raspberry topping and a scoop of strawberry sorbet on the side.

Everything was very good - except for the potatoes that came with our main courses. They were in desperate need of seasoning.

An extra bit of fun, though, was that Remy made an appearance! It was super cute and we assured the Maître d' and Remy that we were not with the health department.

Pros:

Friendly service, Food

Review of Art of Animation Resort (Value Resort)

I stayed at Art of Animation (AoA) in June 2013 and absolutely loved my stay here.

Having added an additional member to my party just prior to arriving, there must have been a mix up with my reservation and when I got to the front desk, they informed me that I wasn't due to check-in for another two days. This took some time to sort out as well as my own efforts finding the confirmation emails that showed I was checking in that day. However, this mistake was not the hotels, and although it took them some time to fix, they made up for this by upgrading me from a Little Mermaid room to a Cars suite. This was amazing service and was so much more than I ever expected to receive.

From then on there were no more errors, just great experiences...

The suite itself was spacious with an amazing living area and a large master bedroom. The fact that the room had two bathrooms really helped to speed things up on a morning or before heading out for dinner. We are big fans of tea and coffee and quickly used up our supplies, but the front desk were happy and incredibly fast at responding to our request for replacements - this was also true with a request for additional pillows.

Our favourite aspect of staying in the Cars wing had to be the pool. The pool was themed around the Cozy Cone Motel in the Cars films and had around 8-10 cabanas in the shape of cones! This made for great shade during the day if you needed a little break from the sun. In addition, the life guards at this pool were so attentive that I never had any hesitations over safety.

I've read a few reviews that talk of the AoA food court negatively, however, I cannot agree with this. My experience at Landscape of Flavors was only positive. For breakfast I tried waffles with bacon and sausage and yoghurt pavlova (which you personalise). Both were great - the yogurt was particularly good!
For lunch I tried the make-your-own-pasta - this was delicious with so many options available, including some great seafood! It was a bautiful meal that I would never expect from a value resort. There were so many other options, many which I have forgotten, but I never had a bad meal. I also ordered pizza to my room one night with chicken wings - also brilliant!!

The bus service was also wonderful - one of the main reasons I chose to stay at AoA was because it had its own dedicated transport and it didn't disappoint. My longest wait was around 10 minutes, but other than that, the busses came frequently and they didn't stop at any other resort.

in addition, one day i got in the pool with my iPhone in my pocket (disaster). I quickly got out and visited the food court - the cast members were so friendly and helpful and quickly delivered me some dry rice and a cup to pop my phone in. Thankfully, due to the cast members speed, the phone fully recovered!

I absolutely loved my stay at AoA, so much that I've booked to return this November and I've spent the extra money to stay in a suite. Believe me - it's worth it. i would recommend it to everyone!

Pros:

Great pools and spacious suites

Review of Boma Flavors of Africa Dinner - Jambo House

We ate at Boma for dinner in late August of this year.

I don't normally start off negative - but I just want to go ahead and get this out there. The wait to be seated was bad. Really bad. Like "why even have an ADR if we're going to wait around for an hour" bad. The cast members seemed flustered and unorganized. If you do eat here for dinner, maybe try earlier in the evening.

Once we were seated our waiter was very friendly and efficient. The food, as always, was spectacular! I have already made my own version of the KokoNutty rice here at home. The spices and herbs that are used at Boma are truly unique and it's definitely something we can't find at home. I do highly recommend visiting to open up your pallet to something unique.

Pros:

The food and wait staff

Cons:

long wait to be seated

Review of Captain Cook's

We took the monorail over to Poly in late August to grab a quick bite (because - Dole Whip!). I have to say, our food left a lot to be desired. The service was fast and friendly - but my flatbread was just "meh." My mom got a burger and fries - and it was a typical burger and fries (no complaints there). The Dole Whip was very good and the bonus to that was that we didn't have to wait in a crazy line for it back in MK.

Pros:

Service and Dole Whips!

Cons:

We ate at CHH on August 26, 2013. I make this a meal stop every time I go to MK. I just love the theming of the whole place. If you are able, head upstairs and sit by the windows that overlook the Haunted Mansion cue on one side and It's a Small World cue on the other. Fun people watching and typically less crowded up there. 🙂

This visit my mom had the fish and chips with fries while I had the lighthouse sandwich and chips. Both were good, but my mom was a bit disappointed with only getting 2 pieces of fish for the price we paid. My sandwich was tasty and large - it could probably be split between 2 people.

Definitely recommend!

We stopped in for a quick refreshment as I wanted to try Le Fou's Brew on August 26, 2013. The theming is impeccable and just so much fun!

I have read where you either love or hate Le Fou's brew - but I loved it. I got just a regular cup instead of the souvenir cup and saved about $5. Super tasty and just what we needed on a hot day.

Theming, Le Fou's Brew

Review of Animal Kingdom Lodge KIDANI Village (Disney Vacation Club)

This was my first stay at Kidani Village. I have stayed in Jambo House before and thought the smaller scale of Kidani would be nice - and it was. I stayed in a standard studio room which was perfect for me since I don't stay in the rooms all that much to pay/use more points for a savannah view. The size of the room was nice plus the bathroom was had quite a bit more space than Jambo House.

We never had an issue with the buses. Plus they were on a schedule to pick us up and drop us off before making their way to Jambo House - which was really nice for tired feet. 🙂

The staff was, of course, extremely friendly and welcoming. Especially Tim who checked us in and brought my 60+ year old mom a "First Time Visitor" button!

The only thing that I wish Kidani had was a quick service type place to grab a salad or flatbread. The shop has some things you can get and pop into the microwave or cook in your room (if you have a kitchen), but just wish there was another food option here.

Otherwise - great place to stay!

Pros:

size of room, less noise than some other resorts, more relaxed feel

Cons:

lack of food options

I had the lamb wrap with couscous and bean salad. I did not care for the bean salad but everything else was exceptional. The couscous was yummy but my traveling partner did not care for that. I would go back for another great lunch!

We ate here at least four times, and everything was always excellent! The Chicken Alfredo has peas and bacon in it....excellent flavors and a decent portion to boot. The Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf....I HAVE to get their recipe for this! Just fantastic! Neither dry nor falling apart...done just right! The pizzas...absolutely fantastic...just the right amount of toppings and baked to perfection. One can get one of the best meals at WDW here...anytime!
