Review of Yacht Club Resort (Deluxe Resort)

We stayed at Yacht Club the end of August for the 4th straight time and we would not stay anywhere else. The staff is wonderful and friendly. We were given a wonderful upgrade to our room upon arrival and the magic just grew from there. The housekeeping crew did everything imaginable to meet our needs and special (allergy) requests. We enjoyed the club level immensely. We had breakfast their every morning except for one (we had Crystal Palace reservations). The food choices were wonderful and always maintained and replenished. The snacks and appertizers were also delicious and plentiful. We always feel like part of the family when staying at YC and have built some lasting relationships with some of the cast members either at the front desk or at the Captian's Grill Restaurant. Upon check-out, we made a point to tell the front desk manager what a "out of this world" vacation we had. He said that we made his day. I said that the Yacht Club jusy made our family's week. Thanks Yacht Club..see you next time.

My 15 yo daughter and I stayed here mid-September 2013 and were VERY pleasantly surprised! Stayed in the "Love Bug" section. Having stayed at POR/AB 3 times previously, we weren't positive we were going to "feel" it but we did! (A friend and her two daughters also stayed and enjoyed it!). Liked that ASMO is a bit more compact as far as the lay-out than the other All-Star resorts.
The room was clean and perfect size for the two of us. Lucky for us, the mousekeeper(s) left us something each day. It was nice to have a fridge although I did miss the two sinks, but not a deal-breaker.
The food court was better than we had expected. Had heard it was crowded, but we never had a problem with finding a table. Ate by the pool one morning, which was nice. The food was GREAT! Had a turkey dinner one night after coming back from a very rainy day at DHS and it was SO good. We love breakfast at Disney food courts too so that alone was worth the stay.
Were able to enjoy the pool one morning. Very nice, not crowded at all.
Gift Shop had everything we would expect.
Bus Stop was easy to find and busses were not a problem for us at any point. Never waited more than 10 minutes to/from ASMO/parks and there was never such a crowd that it was uncomfortable.
CMs at the front desk were very helpful. Only thing was the check-out/boarding passes near-snafu. (Flying Delta you go to the airline check-out NOT the front desk - now I know - lol!)
LOVED the theming of the buildings - SOOO much fun to take pictures!
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, whether on a limited budget or by choice!

Have to give a bad review to our favorite Disney restaurant. First off the menu is blah and uninspired. Gone are all the faves. Sushi selections are near non-existent. Had to send the short ribs back due to the huge fat veins running through it. Everything was blah. Highlight were the meatball appys. They were underdone but delicious and I like my meat rare anyway. Some diners may be put off. The server stood there with the water bottle on his neck while he was explaining the menu. Yuck, find another way to cool off. Doubt if I'll give a second chance to this one.

It is a great plan. But wish appetizers were included. I do not like a lot of the desserts on certain menus. I loved when both were included. But Disney keeps taking away. Again wish the tip was included.
Pros:

Don't usually stay in a moderate and have to say I was pretty disappointed. There were no fridges during our stay. So every morning we had to walk all the way to Port Royal to get breakfast. We were in a preferred room in Jamaica. It was a 10-15 min walk across lake.
Theming was minimal. The Nemo wallpaper border was about it - and it wasn't really great. Maybe I should have paid extra for a pirate room After staying in AoA suite last month, I found CBR of lower quality. The extra floor space compared to a value resort is really just wasted space. Will stick with AoA next time.

We got free dining for our stay in September so I might be biased. I'm pretty sure I'd do it again, but I will do the math before I go seeing as Disney is dead set on jacking the price up every year. We used snack credits/leftovers/refillable mug for breakfast, counter service for lunch and table service for dinner. Dinner for two adults and two children with no appetizers or alcohol seemed to run a steady $100-$120 and lunch was about $50. It worked out well for us, the meals are very big and filling and after lunch and dinner when we went back to our room to regroup we would bring the extra grapes, applesauce and desserts back and put them in the fridge and use them for breakfast or snacks. Using your snack credit for breakfast worked out well too, the sticky buns were huge!!! The refillable mugs were ok, good for breakfast and at night but I spent a lot of time dumping them out and washing them because no one was finishing their drinks.
My husband and I found the plan very easy to use, most of the cashiers understand it very well and are happy to help. It can snagged up a little when you have to get a second bill(for alcohol or an appetizer)because some servers know how to get it all the same bill and others can't and give you two bills so they run your card for tip twice. It took a few back and forths a couple times. Our servers were all wonderful and although the tip suggestions are printed on the bottom of the receipt ALL the servers(we had) had a classy way of saying that we weren't obligated to tip, but if we chose to it would be appreciated.

My family stayed at Pop Century 09/23-30/2013 and we used the mydisneyexperience app with fast passes and the magic bands. We've been to Disney many times with never any lasting negative experiences! This time, however, well, it was just un-Disneylike. MyDisneyExperience is a great concept, but while it accepted the links for my sons' and sister's reservations, it never let me do anything with it, saying it needed to be linked and when I tried to link it, it said it was already linked (frustrating!) It doesn't show any non-dining reservations (Pirate's League, Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, etc.) Once at the resort, our rooms were not in the same buildings, our dining credits were continually messed up (at the end of the week, we had 6 full table service credits for our grandson, who ate at all the same meals as the rest of us! Now, that was to our credit, but the rest of the mistakes were not beneficial at all! Having to wait at the restaurants after meals to have the manager call our resort and correct over the phone or pay for the meal with our credit card and hope to correct it later.) Fastpasses were booked through mydisneyexperience app ahead of time. And, as is often the case, we spent days at different parks than originally planned but the kiosk at the park to book fastpasses, wouldn't let us change it there, we had to find a computer or do it on our smartphone. Kind of a hassle. To add insult to injury, my grandson's beloved Woody doll went missing. We have pictures (on our phones) of him in our room, he was never allowed to go to the Parks, he's just missing. (Good report: told Grandson I called Mickey and arranged to have him mailed to our local Disney Store, who prepared a new Woody doll without tags in a box taped shut and marked Special Delivery and included a note from Mickey himself. That was great!!) Now that we're home, I went online to order our pictures through the Photopass Plus...computer showed 99 pictures, called the photopass help (on hold for almost an hour), she was helpful and linked all the photos back into my account, showing 300 pictures. So i placed my order and the account immediately showed only 83 pictures. What!?! Now i don't know if I ordered 83, 99 or 300 pictures. Is Photopass worth it? I can't tell you. The helpline is only available during business hours during the week, so I have to wait till Saturday to call again - when I have all day to wait. I am still a Disney fan. Love it. This experience is an exception, I know that, but if it were my first visit (as is the case with my son's stepchildren), I wouldn't want to come back.

Ate here Sept. 30. The prime rib was delicious as well as the masked potatoes and asparagus. First time that we ate here and will definitely be back. We stayed at OKW and took boats to Downtown Disney they Port Orleans Riverside. The trip was worth it and had a nice relaxing boat ride.
