Review of Caribbean Beach Resort (Moderate Resort)

We stayed in the Martinique section on July 17 and 18. We have stayed here a few times before and love the theming. Did not use the main pool this time, but used the quiet pool in our section. We had a nice stay, room was clean, but since we were adjacent to the pool there was a lot of light and there is no way to really darken the room. I also understand that they are upgrading to queen size beds. This would definitely be an improvement, beds are too small. One other slight annoyance, housekeeping knocked on the door at 9:00 am on the day we were leaving. Kids were still in bed. She asked "when were we leaving"! My husband told her we would be an hour or so. She parked her cart outside our room and there it stayed until we left!

Pros:

Beautiful resort

Cons:

Drapes do not shut

Review of Bay Lake Tower (Disney Vacation Club)

We are currently staying in a 3 bedroom on a six-night vacation. There are ten of us. The condo is very spacious, beds are super comfortable. Pool is great, and how can you beat a quick walk to the MK? The elevators closest to the walkway going to the Contemporary are always very crowded, however. Small thing, I guess. The biggest con is the food court at Contemporary. You have to order on a touch screen. If you want something modified (no gravy, different side dish, etc) you have to go to the register, have them note the change and pay, then get a beeper and wait for your food. Not very streamlined. Food is "ok", nothing to write home about.

Pros:

Location

Cons:

Crowded elevators, food court

Review of Disney Dining Plan

We love the convenience of the dining plan. We eat at places we wouldn't normally eat at. But who needs a dessert at lunch? And the options are often the same thing - carrot cake or chocolate cake, anyways. And for the table service I find it hard to believe that a small cup of soup or small salad would cost that much more for Disney to substitute for some of the more involved desserts.

Pros:

Easy, convenient

Cons:

Too many desserts!

Review of Frozen Summer Fun Events at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Our 15-year-old niece purchased the skating at the Frozen event. The price included skate and helmet rental and a pair of socks, which you could choose to throw in a bin to be laundered and given to charity. It was a highlight of her visit. Something to remember- "the time I ice skated at Disney"!

Pros:

Fun

It saddens me to write this review of a favorite restaurant. We went on July 20 for dinner. There were ten in our party. We chose this restaurant from past experience, having always enjoyed it. The server, a young man, was inattentive and actually acted like he thought he was something special. Had to ask for the bread and macadamia butter! My sister's tuna was over cooked and the scallops were tasteless. The chocolate fondue was good, but the macaroon cookies were so hard that I couldn't get a spoon into them. This restaurant will no longer be a "must do" or even anywhere near the top of the list.

Pros:

Cons:

Service

We went for an afternoon. The man at the gift shop looked at our bags and told us we could fit them all into a large locker. If they tell you that, don't believe them. A large locker ended up holding only a regular sized backpack. We had to go wait in line again to rent another locker. The lines were fairly short while we were there except at the Downhill Double Dipper. It said 30 minutes, so we got in line. I didn't have a watch on, but the wait had to be at least an hour. There was no apparent reason for this except maybe people taking too long to get ready at the top of the ride. Anyway, the ride was not worth it being so short. Teamboat Springs was awesome! We also enjoyed the lazy river. Beware that the water falling on you is ice cold. Even in the summer heat, this did NOT feel refreshing!

Pros:

great job at cooling pavement

Cons:

inaccurate wait times, small lockers

This was a great tour. My husband and I went our last day at Disney. We had several thunderstorms throughout the week and were worried it would be canceled, but we only heard one clap as we were suiting up before the storm blew past. Whew. Disney makes a big deal about the intensity of this tour. Unless you're really out of shape or really old, I don't think it's very intense. My husband and I are relatively active late 20 year-olds and we had no problem at all. An older man in our group walked a bit slower, but made it through with no issues either. The bridges were not as scary as I thought they might be. Your safety gear gets checked what seems like every 30 seconds. I stepped down into the rope net under the bridge since I felt more comfortable doing that than taking a large step to the next wooden slat. When I did, I felt my harness pull on my back. I knew that even if I somehow managed to fall off the bridge (highly unlikely), the harness was only going to let me go a few inches. We saw lots of animals on the safari portion of the tour. I really enjoyed the snacks at the lookout station. I watched a giraffe trying to eat leaves from a tree that was just a little too tall. That was funny and worth the price of the tour by itself!

Pros:

animal viewing, safety, length

Cons:

weather prone

Surprisingly great food! By the time I had gotten motion sickness from all the virtual reality, I needed a quiet break. The food areas are slightly better lit than the rest of Disney Quest. I enjoyed the cheese pizza. My husband got a gluten-free pizza very quickly, which he also enjoyed. I was able to get an Olaf cupcake for dessert. It was huge and could've easily fed both of us had my husband been able to partake.

Pros:

good food, great place to rest

Review of Everything POP! Lunch/Dinner

We ate lunch here once and dinner here once. Both were equally as crowded, especially around the drink stations. The sushi was very good. I expected it might be slimy from sitting, but it tasted fresh. I saw on the label it was actually brought in from the Japan pavilion in Epcot. The Pop nachos were also good with a wide selection of toppings. I was a little disappointed that they no longer serve the shrimp lo mein I have read so much about on this site.

Pros:

wide selections

Cons:

crowded

Review of Everything POP! Breakfast

The breakfast here was usually efficient and pretty average quality wise. The beverage stations were always crowded. The only time we had a problem was the morning we went to breakfast at 6:30 so we could go to Animal Kingdom's extra magic hours at 8. The only station open was the waffle station. Okay, I'll eat a waffle. My husband, who has a gluten allergy, had to wait a very long time (ironically, longer than when the food court was busy) for a chef to come over to make him something gluten-free (as none of the regular offerings were an option for him). He got told several times that "we don't open until 7." I'm sorry, but if "regular" people can eat waffles at 6:30, then you better be able to make my husband a gluten-free waffle at that time. How do they expect people to make the early extra magic hours if they can't get breakfast?

Pros:

usually quick

Cons:

crowded, opens at different times
