Palm Golf Course Reopens
Posted onThe Palm course reopened for play on December 15, 2013, after an extensive renovation by the Arnold Palmer Design Company. We recently played the course. Our 7:15 a.m. tee time was on a chilly morning in January. The fog was slowly lifting and the dew on the course made it seem like we were playing on a light covering of snow.
Show Your Disney Side with new Disney Parks promotion
Posted onEach year, the Disney Parks launch a marketing campaign that is carried through in national advertising and in the parks. Last year, guests were invited to experience "Limited Time Magic" -- special offerings in the theme parks that were only available for a short period. Several years ago, it was the "Year of a Million Dreams," which actually was extended to a second year. That campaign empowered cast members to give visitors daily surprises that ran the gamut from simple to almost unbelievable, with the most coveted being an overnight stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite each day.

Mid-Month Mousy Mindboggler: January 2014
Posted onIf you subscribe to the AllEars Weekly Newsletter, you'll know that we run a little game called the Mousy Mindboggler. Sometimes it's a word game, sometimes it's a riddle, sometimes it's some other brain-teasing challenge -- but it's always fun!
Once each month, in the AllEars Bits and Bites issue, our friend James Dezern (known as "dzneynut" around several Disney discussion forums) supplies us with a puzzle of his own design. The puzzles have some sort of Disney theme, of course, but will not be restricted to the Disney theme parks. The type of puzzle is up to James. Also up to him? The bestowing of a prize -- a collectible Disney pin from his extensive collection.
Jim’s Attic: Farewell to Cap’n Jack’s
Posted onCap'n Jack's Restaurant was an informal, New England-ish, nautically themed restaurant at the Downtown Disney Marketplace on the east side. The restaurant had been a staple on the waterfront since The Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village opened in 1975. In fact, both opened on the very same day and for years afterward Cap'n Jack's was considered the place to visit on WDW property in the evenings.
Originally, it was called Cap'n Jack's Oyster Bar and was a location where adults could grab cocktails and appetizers in the early days of Walt Disney World. Obviously, it specialized in seafood and was one of the very few locations on or near WDW property that was open until the wee hours.

Posted onDetails are slowly emerging about the new Magic Kingdom Parade called Festival of Fantasy, which will debut this spring. The new parade celebrates Fantasyland and the floats bring to life characters that can be found in Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and Tangled.
