My wife Vickie was lucky to successfully register us for the Social Media Moms Conference at the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World, March 17 – 20, 2011.

Disney merged this conference with its Magic of Healthy Living weekend program.

Disney Magic of Healthy Living began in September 2010 and includes public service announcements on Disney television and radio featuring First Lady Michelle Obama and Disney Channel celebrities. The program showcases two websites, one for kids (Disney.com/healthyfun), and the other offering healthy living advice, including recipes (Family.com/healthymagic).

The weekend conference featured speakers who entertained the Social Media blogger audience with inspirational stories and advice about working in social media. For example, Chris Brogan offered many tips about successfully navigating the vast and growing social web universe.

Chris Brogan (ChrisBrogan.com) is the New York Times bestselling co-author of the book “Trust Agents” and a regular columnist for “Entrepreneur Magazine.” His presentation was humorous and very educational, for me at least. For example, he feels strongly that bloggers should use YouTube because it’s the No. 2 search engine. Videos on YouTube should be brief and have high-quality audio.

Friday night dinner was served on the Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show stage. I have never been so close to the classic Hidden Mickey in the window below the “Motomania” sign at the rear of the stage!

On Saturday morning, breakfast at Citricos Restaurant included appearances by Megan, the Jiko Restaurant sommelier, and Brian, the California Grill Restaurant chef.

The weekend at WDW was well-planned, fun and informative, and I trust that many bloggers in the audience are now Disney fans!
