Disney Shares NEW Details On 9 Upcoming Films, and We’re Already Running To The Movie Theater

CinemaCon — previously known as ShoWest— has been one of the biggest entertainment conventions of the year for decades. The event, staged by the National Association of Theatre Owners, is held in Las Vegas and sees studios elaborately showing off their upcoming slate for the upcoming year and beyond. The 2026 event was held from April 13th through the 16th.

As usual, Disney brought a slew of exclusive footage and celebrity appearances to the convention to promote the latest projects from Disney Studios, Marvel, Pixar, LucasFilm, and more!

Avengers Doomsday

Let’s begin the most highly anticipated film Disney presented at CinemaCon: Avengers Doomsday, which is set to release on December 18th. Disney pulled out all the stops to promote the next Marvel Cinematic Universe epic, bringing out Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. himself to discuss Victor Von Doom’s entry into the MCU.

According to reports from those in attendance, the trailer shown for the film featured the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts/New Avengers, Thor, Shang-Chi, Namor, and the returning Steve Rogers.

The Mandalorian and Grogu

From one mega-franchise to another, Disney also used the CinemaCon opportunity to continue the promotion push for the latest Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, out May 22nd.

Director Jon Favreau appeared onstage, discussing the transition for the popular Star Wars series from Disney+ to the big screen, calling it a “very different experience from the series” as they had years rather than months to perfect the final product. Favreau also shared that he and Dave Filoni (who shot second unit) filmed nearly an hour’s worth of alternate aspect ratio sequences for IMAX and other formats.

Next, the audience was shown the final Mandalorian and Grogu trailer (which was then posted online)…

… before surprising the crowd with the film’s opening sequence, which features the titular characters battling Snowtroopers and the setup of the film’s primary mission.

Moana

Dwayne Johnson was on hand to discuss the Moana live-action adaptation, which is set to debut in theaters on July 10th. In between a sizzle reel of footage from the film, Johnson discussed the cultural importance of Moana and the representation of Pacific Islanders.

Toy Story 5

The upcoming Pixar sequel, out June 19th, was also previewed with the help of stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. Several pieces of footage were shown from the film, including the classic toys meeting the Lillypad device for the first time, an extended version of the sequence where Woody and Bo Peep arrive to help, and a sizzle reel of clips including an army of Buzz Lightyears and Jessie riding Bullseye.

Hexed

Disney Animation Studios had its time to shine as well, with the studio’s upcoming Hexed being featured. The film, due out November 25th, features Hailee Steinfeld as the main character, Billie, and Parks & Rec alum Rashida Jones as her mother, Alice. Footage from the film, including a talking pen opening the gateway to a magical world.

Ice Age Boiling Point

The mega-popular franchise – which Disney acquired as part of the purchase of 20th Century Fox – returns to theaters on February 5th, 2027. Returning stars Ray Romano, Denis Leary, and Queen Latifah were on hand to introduce footage from the film, including the debut of Baby Scrat.

Disney also screened clips from the highly anticipated sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 (out May 1st), Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic The Dog Star (August 28th), Whalefall (October 16th), and Wild Horse Nine (November 6th).

In addition to films, Disney also used CinemaCon to announce Infinity Vision, a “new certification” for premium large format theaters designed to help audiences find the “biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences, including theaters with the with the “largest screens for maximum scale, laser projection for superior brightness and clarity, and premium audio formats for fully immersive sound.”
