Disney, we need to talk.

We’re not saying we expect everything in the parks to be tailored to us, but some recent trends are making it really hard to stay loyal. From hotel “upgrades” that kill the magic to guests turning into human aerosol grenades, these things are pushing millennial fans to the edge. Here are two trends we’re officially DONE with at Disney World.
Refurbished Rooms That Feel Like a Mid-Range Airport Hotel
If you’ve stayed in a Disney resort recently, especially one that’s been “refurbished,” you probably know what we’re about to say.

The theming? Gone. The charm? Evaporated. What we’re left with in a lot of these newly updated rooms is the same beige-on-beige design you’d find in a chain hotel next to a regional airport. Wood laminate floors. Minimal art. Maybe a Mickey head outline on the wall if you’re lucky. The vibe is more sterile than magical.

Disney, we don’t come here for “clean modern lines.” We come here because we want to feel like we’re in a story. Bring back the over-the-top bedding. Bring back little details that gave each resort personality. We don’t need luxury. We need character.
Spray Sunscreen Must Be Banned from Indoor Use (And Maybe Disney World Altogether)
Let’s be absolutely clear: We are NOT against sunscreen. We are pro-sun protection. But the way it’s being used in the parks? Out of control.

We’ve all been there — standing in line for Space Mountain, minding our business, and suddenly you’re hit with a cloud of aerosolized coconut chemical chaos. Someone two feet away just sprayed their entire family top to bottom like it’s a locker room and not an enclosed queue with recycled air. Or worse, you’re indoors trying to eat your lunch and the table next to you decides it’s time for their re-application routine. Ma’am. Sir. Might we choose to do that at a different location, please?

Spray sunscreen isn’t just inconsiderate — it’s dangerous. Inhaling that stuff? Not ideal. Plus, let’s not pretend people are applying it effectively while on the move. You miss half your back and now your kid’s got zebra stripes from a rushed spray-on session in Tomorrowland.

Here’s a good rule of thumb: Find a corner. A quiet, outdoor corner. Apply thoughtfully. If you want to use a lotion, fantastic. If you insist on the spray, we’ll allow it — but only in non-populated, outdoor areas where you’re not fogging strangers like you’re hosting a bug bombing party. We shouldn’t have to choose between avoiding UV rays and keeping our lungs intact.

Millennials grew up loving Disney for its detail, its care, and yes, its whimsy. We’ve put in the hours, the money, and the nostalgia-fueled devotion. But when the magic starts getting replaced with boring hotel rooms and public health hazards in the form of aerosol sunscreen clouds, it gets harder to keep defending this place to our friends who already think we’re “too into Disney.”

We’re not asking for everything to be perfect. Just maybe stop making decisions that feel like they were made by a committee of people who haven’t walked through the parks in August or tried to sleep in a “refreshed” room that feels like it was designed by a Marriott algorithm. We’re still here, Disney. But please — stop testing us.
