NEWS: 3 Popular Theme Parks Cancel Events Ahead of the Holiday Season

Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Michigan’s Adventure announced schedule changes that may impact your holiday plans this fall/winter.

New reports state that the three amusement parks have decided to cancel their holiday offerings, including a Halloween event and winter wonderland-themed attractions.

Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey confirmed that the Holiday in the Park event will not return in 2025, according to . The attraction ran for nine years, transforming the park into a winter wonderland for the November–January season.

Additionally, Six Flags Over Georgia confirmed it will not host its Holiday in the Park celebration this year. Instead, the park will close for the season on November 30th, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

There are over two dozen Six Flags-operated amusement parks, though at this time, two locations have announced that they will end their winter holiday offerings.

The Detroit Free Press also confirmed that Michigan’s Adventure amusement park has canceled its fall season, including a special Halloween event. The Tricks and Treats Fall Fest debuted in 2023, but will not return in 2025. The park will close for the season on September 1st, 2025.

These announcements come as several amusement parks plan for a slowdown as the fall season approaches.

Recently, Six Flags announced that it will be permanently closing two of its parks in the United States at the end of the 2025 season. The company made the decision to close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland after the 2025 season concludes. This is part of the company’s “ongoing portfolio optimization program” and will be listed for sale by CBRE. The park’s last day of operation is set for November 2nd, 2025.
