School is out and you know what that means…

The kids are home! If you’re like us and want to make 2025 the best summer yet, we’ve got you covered from cheap Disney activities you can send straight to your doorstep to new Disney+ shows and movies. And if you’re looking for the very best, little kid-friendly, G-rated Disney movies you can stream right now, we’ve got you covered!
Most movies under the Disney umbrella are perfect for kiddos, but we’re rounding up the best of the best to watch this summer. In the words of Peter Pan, “here we goooooo!”
1. The Lion King
There’s a reason The Lion King is the quintessential Disney movie. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s story of Hamlet, this coming-of-age tale follows Simba, who is trying to find his place in the world and as a leader. With catchy tunes, mind-blowing visuals, and a few hilarious sidekicks, it’s an engaging watch for young viewers.

2. Ratatouille
Summers mean backyard barbecues and sharing delicious food with family…and that’s what Ratatouille is all about! Remy, AKA the little chef, brings people together with his love of food and cooking, despite some challenges along the way.

3. All of the Toy Story movies
We’re sure you’ll see a LOT of toys being played with this summer, and life imitates art when you watch the Toy Story movies! All four movies in the Disney/Pixar franchise post a G-rating as the films explore relatable situations around friendship, loyalty, and growing up. Just bring your tissues if you decide to do a Toy Story movie marathon, especially you, parents!

4. Monsters, Inc.
Mike and Sulley are thrown for a loop when a little girl named Boo enters the monster world. This is another incredible Pixar movie showcasing friendship and how kindness and understanding can overcome fear…but it’s all shown in a lively and fun package perfect for kids (and, let’s be honest, adults!).

5. The Emperor’s New Groove
The often forgotten movie from 2000 is a sleeper hit for fans of all ages. The zany comedy has a wild plot that’s well executed, fast paced, and just outright ridiculous in the best way. Many people pin Maleficent as the best Disney villain, but after seeing Yzma and Kronk together, you’ll see she definitely has some competition!

6. Mary Poppins
The magical nanny named Mary Poppins arrives at the Banks household in London and changes their lives forever. The blend of live-action and animation (despite author P.L. Travers’ reluctance to it) with Julie Andrews’ bold take on the character makes this enchanting film a must-watch. And hey, who knows, it might just inspire your young ones to pick up after themselves while singing “Spoonful of Sugar”!

7. Cars
It’s a guarantee. Any kid who is fascinated by cars or trucks is bound to love the movie Cars! From the lovable Tow Mater and Lightning McQueen to the action-packed animated sequences, it’s surprisingly deep, but in a way that kids will understand. This one is sure to be a hit this summer!

8. Alice in Wonderland
Beware! Watching Alice in Wonderland might lead you down a rabbit hole of creativity and crafts this summer. The highlight of this movie is the colorful scenes and quirky characters (we’re looking at you, Mad Hatter!). Even though the film is from 1951 and the story was published by Lewis Carroll in 1865, it’s timeless and is still inspiring people today.

9. The Princess Diaries
Ahhh, a live-action film that Millennial parents would actually watch themselves. Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway star in The Princess Diaries, a story of a regular schoolgirl turned princess of Genovia. It’s nostalgic, it’s iconic, it’s hilarious — what’s not to love? Just don’t show them The Princess Diaries 2 or they’ll beg to mattress surf down the stairs…

10. Beauty and the Beast
The song lyrics say “Tale as old as time” for a reason. Beauty and the Beast is possibly the most iconic Disney Princess movie of all time (sorry to the other royalty) with the gorgeous ballroom scene, timeless messages about acceptance, and we can’t forget it was the first animated film to be nominated for Best Film of the Year at the Oscars.

11. Hercules
This 90s movie about Greek mythology is the step-by-step guide on how to be a hero…and that’s focusing on what really matters! Hercules eventually learns it’s not all about the show and the muscles, but taking care of the people you love and the people in your community. The music in this movie is unmatched, so we see lots of car karaoke to “Zero to Hero” in your future!

12. Finding Nemo
Pixar is constantly delivering emotional but fun-filled movies, and Finding Nemo was no exception. It balances the two perfectly with a story of Marlin going on a journey across the ocean to find his son, Nemo! There is plenty of humor and heart to keep kids engaged and entertained. The fact that it takes place (mostly) underwater is fitting for a fun summer movie night!

13. Mulan
It’s true — Mulan is one of the bravest and most selfless Disney characters to exist. She breaks societal expectations to do what she knows in her heart is right! Oh, and she sings the stunning ballad Reflection which is really just the cherry on top. Although this movie includes war scenes, the violence is very mild, so the G-rating is justified.

14. Brother Bear
We’re wrapping up this list with a severely underrated movie — Brother Bear! The 2003 film tells the story of Kenai, who is transformed into a bear and must see the world through a new set of eyes. Along the way, he learns about love and empathy, and the movie also touches on respect for animals and the environment. It’s outdoorsy, which is another highlight for adventurous young ones!

There you have it! We hope you have a fantastic summer full of fun, vacations, and, of course, amazing Disney movies. Stream all of these on Disney+ right now!
