There is always something going on in Disney World!

The parks are changing quite a bit right now thanks to permanent closures, new lands being built, and more! Speaking of closures, there’s one coming up soon that you might need to know about.
If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom soon and you’re bringing a kid or kids along, you need to know that the playground inside the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue is closing!

This play area is located within the queue where you can kill time while you wait in line for the iconic Disney attraction. This playground provides a great place for kids to burn off their energy (because despite the 15,000 steps, they still have energy) and it even has benches for adults to take a load off.

As you head inside the play area, Cast Members will give you a pager that will alter you when it’s time for your turn with Dumbo. The play area has several moving parts, interactive pieces, and more for the kids to enjoy. We have found it a great place to take a break in the sun, however, during busier times we have seen it hit capacity.

The play area is closing for refurbishment starting on February 24th, 2025, and will be closed until Spring 2025. Disney hasn’t provided an exact reopening date just yet, but we will let you know as soon as we see a date available. Luckily, the ride will remain open even when the playground is closed.

This is just one of the great areas for kids to burn off some steam in Magic Kingdom! While this spot is closed, you can also take your kids to Casey Jr. Splash Station in Storybook Circus for them to run around.

Also in Storybook Circus, there is a large tent right next to Pete’s Silly Sideshow where you can find seating and places to charge your phone to help your feet while the kids enjoy watching the train drive by. Need some more options? No problem!

While it’s still open, you can also head over to Tom Sawyer Island where you can find playgrounds, hidden tunnels, and barrel bridges to play in with lots of seating and shade. Plus, Tom Sawyer Island is a great way to get away from crowds. It will eventually close to make way for the upcoming Cars area but we don’t have a timeline for that new project just yet.

We can’t wait to see what changes come to the new play area and you can be sure we’ll cover it all when it finally reopens in the spring. As always, make sure to keep following AllEars for all of your Disney news and updates.
