It’s been over a month now since Hurricane Milton slammed into Florida as a Category 3 storm.

It had thankfully weakened by the time it hit Orlando, but it still did some major damage to the city and left many without power for countless hours. Disney World itself closed its theme parks for a day and a half, and while the majority of their hotels were still open, guests were encouraged to stay in their rooms until the worst of the weather had passed. But how much damage did Disney World really take on from the storm? Now we’ve found out.
Disney just had their Q4 earnings call this morning, which is where they discuss how the company is doing overall, and sometimes we get little tidbits of information on what they’re working on.

In this latest earnings call, one of the things we learned was that Disney lost $130 million due to Hurricanes Milton and Helene. This is much more than the $65 million Disney lost due to Hurricane Ian back in 2022, and these losses will in turn lead to negative results in Q1 of 2025. However, the company confirmed that bookings are “strong” for the back-half of 2025, which should help negate these losses and lead to an “acceleration” as the year goes on.

The company’s Experience division saw “6% to 8% segment operating income growth compared to fiscal 2024, weighted to the second half of the year” and domestic parks in particular saw operating income rise 5% to $847 million, “helped by higher guest spending at the parks and cruise lines.” This has led to an overall $34.1 billion in topline revenue in 2024, a 5% increase versus 2023, an overall record for the division.
