Planning any trip can be very stressful. Trust us, we’ve been there.

You’re trying to get the best price on your airfare, making sure you won’t be spending a wild amount of money on gas, and deciding where to stay. However, there’s something else you need to consider — travel scams.
Links and Attachments in Emails
When you’re looking at an email and something seems a little fishy, do NOT click on any attachments or links included in the email.

To be clear, opening the email itself is not dangerous — it’s only when you click on a link or open an attachment that hackers may be able to access your data and/or your computer. So if you have even a sliver of doubt, DON’T. CLICK. ANYTHING.
If It’s Pressuring You — RUN
If you receive an email that appears to be pressuring you to click anything, book something, or send money, especially quickly — RUN, BABY, RUN!

Scammers will often try to achieve their goals by stressing their victims out by creating a fake ticking clock. If you’re excited about your vacation and are scared you may not be able to book it otherwise, you may be more likely to fall victim to this scheme. When in doubt, take a breath, let your logic come back online, and reconsider.
Online Ads
This one is a bit newer in comparison, but be wary when clicking online ads. Especially after you’ve just started Googling flights, accommodations, etc. online.

Thanks to technology, once you start Googling one thing, other ads will pop up for similar searches, and some of them may be from fake companies. Often, if it seems too good to be true, it is. Listen to your intuition!
Companies Asking You To Pay, And They’ll Book For You
Let us be clear here, we’re NOT talking about travel agents here — reputable travel agent companies are good to work with (we love Mouse Fan Travel!), but some scam companies will ask for you to pay them to book your trip/excursion for you. Often, this is a terrible idea.

Booking with a reputable travel agent is the way to go here! We recommend Mouse Fan Travel, they’ll handle all this for you!

Travel agents know how to avoid scams of all kinds!
If You Suspect A Scam, Don’t Use Email Contact Details
It’s important to research any company you’re looking to book with, and check out reviews. However, if you’ve received and email and you’re skeptical, don’t use any of the contact details in the email.

Instead, head to the website of the company in a separate internet tab (typing it in yourself) and contact them through the contact information listed on there. Again, if the company is a scam, it may be difficult to find this information, and those red flags may be raised again. At that points, it’s likely better to just move on to a different company.

Scams are stressful and very scary, so it’s always worth taking an extra second to do research, read reviews, and make sure you’re booking with a company that’s reputable. We’re always here to help you with your Disney vacations, so stay tuned to AllEars!
