OPENING DATE Announced for NEW Disneyland Nighttime Show

Something NEW is coming to Disneyland this month.

There are a lot of new things guests can do at the Disneyland Resort. If you are looking for a bite to eat you can head over to Tiana’s Palace or San Fransokyo Square. Now, we have a new nighttime show coming to the park.

You might remember that Fantasmic! has been on an extended break since a fire broke out in April. Disneyland has announced that Fantasmic! will be returning to the park sometime in spring 2024 — but no concrete dates have been announced just yet.

When the show does return, it will not include the Maleficent dragon figure that was the source of the fire, but will include “new special effects and a thrilling new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent.” While the show is on a hiatus, you can soon catch a new nighttime offering on the Rivers of America.

Starting September 29th, taking place between the Jambalaya Jazz Band and Queenie sets, a limited-time show will pay tribute to New Orleans! You can expect a “dynamic jazz score and colorful projections on the Rivers of America” which will tell a “short, whimsical tale of a mischievous little frog from the bayou that leaps into the lively city of New Orleans when he is lured by the jazzy sounds he hears in the distance.”

This unique art installation will animate original artwork by Disney Live Entertainment graphic designer Marcella “Marci” Swett, best known for her chalk art at Downtown Disney District during Celebrate Soulfully. The new nighttime offering is called The Heartbeat of New Orleans – A Living Mural. If you are in the mood for more New Orleans, head over to the newly opened Tiana’s Palace.
