NEWS: Florida Reports Highest Daily Total of COVID-19 Cases Since Beginning of the Pandemic

Aspects of “normalcy” started to return to theme parks with health and safety protocols relaxing, however COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Florida.

We have seen the requirement to wear a face mask indoors return to Disney World and Disneyland, and today we received an update about the rise in COVID cases.

According to ABC News, Florida reported its highest one-day total in new COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

On Friday, Florida reported 21,683 new COVID-19 cases. According to the CDC, this is the highest total that we have seen since the start of the pandemic.

We recently reported that cases were nearing the highest levels since the beginning of the pandemic and since then we have seen a 50% increase over the past week.

The Florida Hospital Association also stated that statewide coronavirus hospitalizations are now coming close to last year’s peak. Florida is now leading the country in COVID-19 cases with a fifth of the country’s cases being traced back to Florida.

At this time we have seen Disney World alter their health and safety protocols again and require masks indoors for everyone. Universal has encouraged guests to wear face masks and follow the guidelines of the CDC, but has not required masks again.
