With the theme parks closed, many have wondered what would be the status of construction during the temporary closure, specifically in regards to the health and safety of construction workers.

Now, it has been announced that Disney World will be shutting down construction operations in an effort to protect workers from the spread of coronavirus.
According to the Orlando Business Journal, Mark Wylie, president and CEO of Central Florida chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors Inc., has stated that Disney “has shuttered construction operations at Disney World.”

In the article, Wylie also stated that “it wasn’t immediately known if construction workers will be paid or when construction operations will resume”. Disney has yet to make an official statement, and was not available for comment.

This suspension of construction means that the parks are likely to look much the same as we left them upon reopening, and could potentially result in delays for openings such as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, or Galactic Starcruiser depending on when construction is able to resume.
