As Disneyland Resort prepares for the summer opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, they are working on enhancing and updating the in-park experience for all guests — a project dubbed “Project Stardust.”

One element of this project is the refurbishment of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Disney Imagineering just shared a video with some new details on the Castle refurbishment.
Kim Irvine from Walt Disney Imagineering assures us the Castle‘s signature colors will not change, but we will see some new, subtle enhancements, or “Pixie Dust”, added to the Castle.
Other projects around the park that are a part of Project Stardust include:
- Main Street, U.S.A.‘s curbs are are being modified to have slow inclines to help improve access when guests first enter
- New brickwork on Main Street, U.S.A. adds to the storytelling of guests first steps in the park
- The horse-drawn streetcar track was replaced
- Queues for the Matterhorn Bobsleds, “it’s a small world” and Dumbo the Flying Elephant have been modified to improve guest access and comfort
- Tropical Hideaway opened in Adventureland
- Throughout the park, planters and outdoor vending carts are being moved or relocated to make room for additional walking space and new, more efficient stroller areas
- More seating is being added to the entire park
All of this work is being done to improve guest comfort and movement throughout the park, as well as prepare the park for future generations to enjoy.
