Starbucks Just Announced a HUGE Change Coming March 10th

Big changes are coming to the Starbucks Rewards program soon!

The Starbucks Rewards program is a way for customers to earn perks, like free food and drinks, on their purchases. And if you’re a Starbucks superfan, we’ve got big news — Starbucks is launching a revamped loyalty program on March 10th featuring some huge updates!

The updated Starbucks Rewards program will launch on March 10th, featuring a tiered structure with three levels – Green, Gold, and Reserve – which each offer new and exclusive benefits for members. The tiers are designed to provide increasingly personalized and premium perks, rewarding customers for their loyalty.

In addition to the perks unlocked with each tier, there are also benefits available to all members of the Starbucks Rewards program, including Free Mod Mondays (one free beverage customization on a select Monday per month) and bonus stars on qualifying gift card reloads of $30+.

Here’s a look at the exclusive benefits by tier, as shared by Starbucks.

Green Members

  • Birthday Reward – a free beverage or food – on their birthday
  • Personalized offers
  • Opportunities to play games like Starbucks for Life
  • Early access to select beverages and food
  • Stars are valid for six months, and members can extend the life of their Stars for a month by completing a monthly qualifying activity, such as redeeming a reward, making a purchase, or digitally reloading a Starbucks Card
  • Earn 1 Star per dollar spent and earn Stars faster by digitally reloading a Starbucks Card

Gold Members

Once a member earns 500 Stars in a 12-month period, they will move to Gold status and earn these perks, in addition to the Green tier benefits:

  • Stars that never expire
  • A seven-day window to redeem their Birthday Reward
  • Earn 1.2 Stars per dollar spent or 12 Stars for every $10 spent
  • Receive at least four additional Double Star Days annually

Reserve Members

Once a member earns 2,500 Stars in a 12-month period, they will achieve Reserve status, and earn these perks on top of the Green and Gold benefits.

  • 30-day window to redeem their Birthday Reward
  • At least six additional Double Star Days annually
  • Access to exclusive merchandise and curated events, including all-expenses paid trips to exciting destinations like Tokyo, Milan or Costa Rica to explore and celebrate coffee culture globally
  • Earn 1.7 Stars per dollar spent or 17 Stars for every $10 spent

Members can move up to a higher level at any time as they rack up Stars, and status is valid for 12 months. To keep their Gold status, members must earn 500 Stars during the following year, and to keep Reserve status, members must earn 2,500 Stars.

When the new program launches on March 10th, members will see their level designation on the Starbucks app, which will be determined by the number of Stars they accumulated from January through December 2025.

  1. Well color me confused. Starbucks told me I couldn’t use the app there to earn or redeem points. Was I misinformed?
