If you are making a trip to Universal Orlando to ring in the new year with a bang, then you need to know about these upcoming closures. The good news is that only three planned closures are happening at Universal Orlando in January.

But depending on your feelings towards these three locations, it could be rather disappointing. While we don’t want you to be disappointed, we would rather let you know about these planned closures now than have you find out after you arrive at Universal Orlando.
Let’s take a look at the closures happening at Universal Orlando! Keep in mind these are just planned closures. Other locations and attractions might still be temporarily closed due to weather, technical issues, or other reasons. These are just the closures that Universal has planned for maintenance and refurbishment.

Over in Islands of Adventure, Jurassic Park River Adventure will be closed from January 5th, 2026, until November 19th, 2026. This one is a looonngg closure. Universal hasn’t made any announcements about what might be happening during this extensive closure, so for now, we are assuming it is just general maintenance. However, with it closed for almost a year, there is a possibility we will see bigger changes to the ride. We will have to wait for Universal to announce something to be sure, though!

In Universal Studios Florida, Revenge of the Mummy will be closed for maintenance from January 15th through 21st, 2026. This one is just a few days, but we definitely want you to be aware in case your trip falls on these dates! This closure will likely just be for general maintenance on the attraction.

Also in Universal Studios Florida, Finnegan’s Bar & Grill will be closed starting January 12th, 2026. It will be closed until winter 2026. Universal hasn’t announced much about this closure — beyond adding the announcement to the website. While it’s unclear exactly what this lengthy refurbishment will entail, we’ll keep you updated! This is another long one, so we will be interested to see if any major updates are made to the restaurant.

That’s it for planned closures in January! You might also want to keep an eye on the weather, as Volcano Bay (Universal Orlando’s waterpark) will close temporarily due to cold weather. You can check the most up-to-date operating hours on the Universal website.

We are always keeping an eye on the latest Universal Orlando news to make sure you have the most up-to-date information. We want you to have the best vacation possible! Stay tuned to AllEars for more tips, tricks, and news!
