Virtual Queue Rules CONFIRMED for NEW Walt Disney Attraction

We’ve got massive news out of Disneyland Resort!

Disneyland

We’ve been looking forward to the resort’s 70th Anniversary for the whole year and have loved everything it’s had to offer, but we’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of this NEW show, and now it’s almost here. However, Disney just released some BIG news — there will be a virtual queue in place for guests hoping to see Walt Disney — A Magical Life!

Walt Disney — A Magical Life opens in Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House on July 17th, 2025, and now we know that guests hoping to see the show will need to join a Virtual Queue to grab a spot.

You’ll need the Disneyland app to request to join the queue, and a standby queue will not be available. You can request to enter only once per day, and the queues will drop at 7 AM and 12 PM (noon). For the first drop, you must have a park reservation for Disneyland Park. For the second drop, you can be physically in Disneyland OR at Disney California Adventure with a park hopper ticket.

At this time, it doesn’t sound like there will be any Lightning Lanes available for this attraction, so the VQ may truly be the ONLY way to experience this new show. However, information about Lightning Lanes could come out later on, and we’ll certainly be on the lookout.

There’s also currently no telling when this Virtual Queue could end. It’s possible it could only be for the first few months the attraction is open, or it could be in place for years. It’ll largely depend on how popular the attraction is, but we do know that eventually the show will play in rotation with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. At that time, we suspect the show will no longer have a VQ.

This new show will feature the first (and currently only) animatronic of Walt Disney himself. When asked about the show, Tom Fitzgerald, Senior Creative Executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, said, “We wanted the show and story to appeal to all ages, and while some of our younger audience may not know as much about Walt Disney, we felt his story could be inspirational to them. Follow your dreams, turn setbacks into success, never give up, and give the world your very best.”
