As of July 1st, toll prices on CFX operated roadways have increased in price between $0.02 and $0.05. This is due to the Central Florida Expressway Authority doing an assessment that found they need to keep up with rising costs. This resulted in toll adjustment.

125 miles of roads within Central Florida are operated by the Central Florida Expressway Authority. The roads include the SR-408 (East-West Expressway), SR-414 (Apopka Expressway), SR-417 (Central Florida Greenway), SR-429 (Western Beltway), SR-451, SR-453, SR-538 (Poinciana Parkway), and parts of SR-528 (the Beachline Expressway). This leads to an average of more than one million toll transactions being recorded daily on CFX expressways.

It was reported that the increase in toll prices is intended to go towards their five-year work plan. The money will come from the toll increase becuase the CFX does not receive state or local tax dollars.

The five-year work plan for the CFX includes:

  • System Expansion Projects: $2.95 billion (70.4%)
  • Existing System Improvement Projects: $410 million (9.8%)
  • Interchange Projects: $338 million (8.1%)

If you’re looking to save money on tolls, CFX actually has many toll discount programs for drivers who use E-Pass to pay for their tolls. In that case, drivers can save up to 25% for those who are using the CFX system often. E-Pass customers who have made between 40 and 79 transactions per month will save 20%. If you’re an E-Pass customers who has made more than 80 transactions per month, you will save 25%. It pays to be an E-Pass cutomer!
