Chuck Schmidt’s NEW Book ‘Marty, Mickey and Me’ Is Available Now!

Well, our very own Chuck Schmidt has a new book that’s out right now that goes into details about his friendship with Marty Sklar (The Walt Disney Company’s international ambassador for Walt Disney Imagineering), which spans decades.

You may know Chuck Schmidt from his column here on AllEars, Still Goofy About Disney. During his years as a journalist and Disney expert, he struck up a friendship with Marty Sklar, whose career goes back to working with WED Enterprises, which later became Walt Disney Imagineering. Sklar helped create some of Disney’s most beloved attractions, including “it’s a small world” and The Enchanted Tiki Room.

In Schmidt’s new book Marty, Mickey and Me, you can learn more about his friendship with Sklar and read about a cherished friendship that began in 2010. As that friendship developed, Schmidt discovered just what an icon Sklar really was in being “a shining star in the Disney firmament” and someone adorned by Disney fans as well as those who worked with him at Walt Disney Imagineering.

Marty, Mickey and Me offers intimate, first-hand accounts of Marty’s involvement in Disneyland’s struggles during its first few years, Disney’s participation in the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, Walt Disney’s desire to build a ‘city of the future’ in Florida, and Marty’s retirement years, when he toured the world touting his books.
