Your Disney Cruise Ship Catches Fire All The Time — But It’s Totally Normal

Your Disney Cruise Line ship catches fire all the time, and we’re being serious.

Grand Hall

Disney Cruise Line has some exciting new ships and destinations they’ve recently unveiled, and planning your next sailing aboard one of these ships might be on your vacation bucket list soon. While you’ve probably spent countless hours packing and preparing for your upcoming cruise (including learning all of the policies and procedures of what you can and can not take with you on your sailing), that’s not the only problem you could encounter onboard.

Disney Vacation Planner

Picture this — you’ve spent months, maybe years, planning the perfect cruise getaway aboard one of the fabulous Disney Cruise Line ships and are hyped about the reality of getting some well-deserved rest and relaxation (Disney style 😉). But, you’ve overheard someone talking about a problem on board your ship’s sailing, and now it’s all your anxiety can think about. We assure you, it’s probably nothing worth panicking over and for good reason!

Disney Wish

Recently, those sailing onboard the Disney Treasure may have overheard an alert in the early morning hours about a fire that had broken out during their travels. In the overhead announcement, Cast Members relayed that the fire broke out in one of the incinerator rooms, was contained within an hour, and there was no power lost during this event. While this certainly sounds serious at first, you might feel a bit differently after learning this is a common occurrence aboard cruise ships.

The Disney Treasure!

If you’re going to have any fire reported while sailing on a cruise ship, the incinerator room seems to be a plausible culprit and probably the most welcomed of the possibilities. And the overhead announcements are likely protocol for when these occurrences happen, which do happen more often than you might think (weekly is very on par with this assumption).

Of course, with any fire that might break out on board, the goal is to keep it contained and extinguished as quickly as possible for the safety of the crew and onboard guests as well as to avoid interruptions to the sailing. So by the time you’re overhearing an announcement about a fire, it’s very likely that it’s already been dealt with speedily.

It’s important to stay on top of all the latest cruising news, announcements, safety protocols, and more before and during your sailing. If you’re looking for a way to impress your friends and family before you set sail, this is an excellent bit of knowledge to have in your back pocket (and helps keep everyone you’re sailing with from panicking). As always, though, it’s good practice to listen intently to the announcement and follow any important instructions that may be offered to you in the event of a true emergency.
