A new bill has passed in Florida for automatic gratuity at restaurants.

If you’ve ever dined at Disney World, you might have noticed an automatic tip added to your receipt at certain spots. This new bill will shape how the receipt looks and how the tip is listed.
Previously, there was a proposed bill that would make it easier for restaurants to remove someone who was not paying from their bill and “ban automatic gratuity and service charges for parties of fewer than six guests” at dining locations. This bill was not passed, but a similar bill, SB 606, which still affects automatic gratuity, recently passed through the House and Senate.
Part of the bill says that every public food establishment that charges an automatic gratuity will have to easily show that gratuity is added on the menu, written contract, website, or mobile app where the orders are placed. This will make it easier for guests to notice the additional cost.

Another part says, “Each copy of the receipt that a customer receives must contain separate lines for gratuity, an operations charge, and sales tax so that it is clear to the customer what is being charged. If the operations charge includes an automatic gratuity, it must be separately stated on the receipt.”
If you’ve ever found yourself looking over the check multiple times to see if the tip is included or if you need to add a tip, this part of the bill will help you spot the automatic tip.

How will this affect Disney World? Well, your bill might look a little different, as well as the menus around the property. Noticing the automatic gratuity should be easier to see and will be on a separate line on the receipt.
Later on the bill, it says, “this section does not apply to the purchase of a dining plan or package or fixed-price meal for which the price of the plan or package or meal is disclosed to the customer before purchase.”

If you purchase a Disney Dining Plan or enjoy a prix fixe dinner like Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Garden Grill, and many other signature dining meals, the gratuity does not need to be separately listed because the price is told to you beforehand.

The bill has passed through the House and Senate and would take effect on July 1st, 2026. We’ll be keeping an eye on it to see how it progresses and how it affects dining at Disney World and other Florida locations.
