Yes, theme parks are always such a blast! The thrill of the attractions, great food, amazing memories — but sometimes those thrills can lead to injuries. Especially when Orlando(ish) theme parks have millions of visitors every year.

The high visitor count, paired with the 100+° weather, and the physical exertion it takes to navigate the parks, it’s no surprise that in-park injuries get reported sometimes.
Every quarter, the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services publishes its “MOU Exempt Facilities Report” — a document of attraction-related Injuries located at Orlando theme parks. The list of theme parks includes Disney World, Universal, Busch Gardens, Legoland, and SeaWorld. We just got the data for the first quarter, which is a record from January 2025 to March 2025, and you might be shocked!

According to the report, three injuries in the 1st quarter have happened on ONE Universal attraction. Every other attraction only had one or zero injuries. Keep in mind, this is just the first quarter! It’s already tied with the attractions that had the most injuries in ALL of 2024.

That ride is Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorcycle Adventure. The interesting thing is that this ride only had two injuries reported in the entirety of 2024. So in the first three months of this year, it’s already beating that.

The MOU Exempt Facilities Report does NOT cover minor incidents; so the injuries recorded in this document are ONLY serious incidents. Incidents that required hospitalization for at least 24 hours. Let’s take a look at the three injuries.

The first incident happened on February 3rd, when a 33-year-old male had a seizure. There were no pre-existing conditions that were reported in his case. The next two happened on March 8th and March 18th — one being a 53-year-old male, the other a 26-year-old male. Both men experienced chest pains, which they both reported were pre-existing conditions.

This ride has reported more issues than all of SeaWorld, Legoland, and Bush Gardens combined. It is important to note that two of the three incidents were pre-existing conditions.

It’s also important to remember that there are ways to protect yourself from serious injuries, and ways you can possibly avoid them. Drink lots of water on vacation, especially in that Florida heat. Also, know your body’s limits. It can be easy to get caught up in the fun while on vacation, and some of those rides are SO hard to pass up — but that can lead to some painful consequences.

Make sure you pay attention to any alerts or recommendations when it comes to who should and shouldn’t ride. Having a pre-existing condition can put you at risk of those high-speed thrills, such as Hagrid’s. Also, remember that the Universal parks have first aid stations. You can find those on the map via the Universal Studios App.
