Could This ABANDONED EPCOT Lounge Give Us a Hint About Disney’s NEW Spaceship Earth Addition?

Something exciting will be coming very soon to EPCOT!

EPCOT

In 2024, Disney announced that a brand-new lounge was coming to EPCOT, themed to — and directly attached to — the park’s iconic Spaceship Earth attraction. This lounge is set to open in late Spring of this year and it got us thinking about an EPCOT lounge that is no more.

Disney said the new lounge would be “inspired by the stories, shapes, and enduring legacy of this timeless icon.” Disney also said the lounge will feature “delicious culinary creations” that fit the setting. Furthermore, diners will be “inspired by the stories and legacy of this iconic structure.”

The lounge will feature “sweeping views” of the park’s World Celebration Gardens and a unique perspective of the park’s nightly fireworks spectacular, Luminous The Symphony of Us. We have seen construction walls up around the back of Spaceship Earth, and we are hoping to hear of an official opening date soon! But let’s take it way back in time for a minute to talk about a lounge that was also located in Spaceship Earth.

Construction on the lounge in January

Does anyone remember the Siemens VIP Center? If you don’t, we don’t blame you as this was a place at Epcot not usually seen by most guests because it is reserved for Siemens employees and their customers. It was located above the post-show gaming area of Spaceship Earth.

Employees and their guests could head to the second floor, where there would be a receptionist and where they could enter the open-area lounge. There, they could help themselves with complimentary beverages and learn more about their company through interactive exhibits.

It offered sweeping views of Future World. Below, you can see the area that is now World Celebration Gardens and where the Walt Disney “Dreamer” Statue is located. From the concept art, we can expect to see similar views in the new lounge.

The View

In 2017, Siemens left the VIP Center abandoned before their contract was over. Now, we’re looking forward to the future of this space and while we aren’t sure exactly how much of the original lounge will be utilized in the new one, we can’t wait to see it come to life.

We can’t wait to see what this lounge will offer. Be sure to follow AllEars.net for the latest in Disney news.
